    Here's why I asked:

Oh... i just misunderstood you. Anyway, yes, the 97 Sephia 1.8 (again officially it's a "BP") comes with a G25M-R transmission and the 1.6 (B6) DOHC model comes with an F25M-R.

Just shop around patiently. A lot of rip off shops will ask you prices ranging from the low 300s to high 600s no matters what car you say it's from (Escort GT/Protege/Sephia/Tracer LTS). But every now and then, you will come across a couple of shops that ask you more reasonable prices in the under 300 range. Still, some might not work out if they need to ship it to you. Just be patient and shop around a lot. Like i said, i got just about everything for my swap for $165 + 60ish shipping. (driveshafts, trans, good clutch assy, flywheel, pedal assy, shifter, etc etc etc)

A j/y close-by has one, and the price is less than $150.

Nice. Btw, save all the screws. It never hurts to have spares. I didn't mention it earlier but you will need the flywheel to crankshaft bolts. They are different from the crank to flexplate bolts on the auto.

I think the service manual actually tells you to replace those anyway. But we'll get 'em anyway.

bleh.... the manual will tell you to do many things...
Just make sure you clean out the threads in the "crankplate" (i'm gonna call it that) and the bolts real good. I tried putting the stuff back on without cleaning it and got the scare of my life when a couple of them just about seized up. I thought i messed up the threads or something. heh.
Anyways, after cleaning, they went it real easy using just my fingers to put em back in (ofcourse i torqued em in later). Also make sure you use a good thread locker compound on those bolts and the clutch cover bolts. You will also want to get a small torque wrench to make torquing everything easy in the cramped engine bay. One other thing you MUST do when ur doing the swap is to remove the small metal spacer that sits between the crankplate and the auto's flexplate. If you don't, you will end up wasting a good pilot bearing like I did.

The 97 Sephia I looked at today had the shared clutch cylinder. Where did you find the independent one?

The car you saw must have been marked wrongly. All 97 sephias with the 1.8BP will have the G trans and the independent clutch setup.

                    Tranny Swap Questions

I have a 99 familia (JDM rhd protege) with the ZL-VE 1.5 engine and auto tranny (FN4A-EL). Could the F25M-R manual tranny from a USDM 1.6 be swapped into my car. If so, where would I be able to get all the needed parts from?
I can't stand the boredom of being automatic any longer.

I could help, probably the only person in your area that's done that swap. Hit me up when it's warmer
