Hmm, intake should be done, maybe lowered, maybe some oem alloys from either an Mx-3 or Miata. Don't think I'll have my hood by then but maybe.

I can't touch the exhaust or get good wheels until I figure out a timeline for the expiration of my Z5 and hopefully start planning a KF/KL swap. Ahh..so many unanswered questions with the second gens!

Thanks Jack. But I'm afraid it won't be that easy with a second gen. I need to save about $5000 for a Lantis type R half cut to get everything I need.

It might be possible with North American parts but it could take years (not to mention money!) to figure out a workiing combination of mounts/brackets, subframe, axles, etc.. It looks like the Lantis parts will be a mostly bolt in/up proposition.

umm, dude, its not as hard as you think it is, lol, your 2nd gen is ODB2 so is a 1996 mx-3.

also some 2nd gens came with BPs, so you know all the BP mounts will bolt in....therefore the mx-3 motor will, and so will the tranny, the difficult part would be axles! you just have to try mx-3 axles in your spindles, they could fit, and you're good man, just swap all the other parts.

I see your point but even if it all goes together, the MX-3 is still a K8 while the Lantis would have a KF. Not to mention the wiring would be simplified using the Lantis.

I still disagree with you about the mounts. I see it as faulty logic because the MX-3 V6 mounts are designed for the BG engine compartment which it shares with the 1st gen Protege. The engine compartment is very different between BG and BHA so even if the V6 mounts bolted in, the engine might not be positioned to clear everything on the firewall or the rad. The subframes are very different also so the V6 crossmember might not bolt up. I am willing to bet that any lines like ac and power steering are probably run in different places too.

Besides, I need to keep the downtime to a minimum so I would rather go with a shure bet than run into possible problems with mixing and matching/fabing parts. That would be a good project for someone with a dedicated project car. No matter, if my Z5 holds up long enough for me to save and get the half cut I will make it happen.

Anyhow, "we now return to our regularly scheduled programming" lol!

edit: I don't mean to say it's not possible. It might be easily possible. I just don't want to be the first to try it when there is already a somewhat proven way. I'm still living at home and reliable transportation and time are priorities for me until I get my own place to experiment.
