NGK Racing Powercables Now Available

While checking out www.sparkplugs.com ,I noted that they now have available NGK Racing Powercables.

"NGK Hyper Silicone Power Cable ignition wires, previously available only in Japan, are now being released in the U.S. These high performance spark plug wires have been sought after due to their extreme low resistance. While some carbon core wires can have resistance values upward of 5000 ohms per foot of wire, NGK Power Cable ignition wires are rated at an ultra low 270 ohms per foot.Lower resistance means these wires supply more sparking energy to the spark plug. This extra power is supplied while minimizing radio-frequency interference (RFI) and the patented Hyper-Silicone wire jacketing prevents voltage leak."

Currently, they are available only for the Miata and Miata LS but perhaps more sets will become available for our Proteges. They are expensive, however, at US $115 for the Miata set.

I'm sure TheMAN will have more information about this product and whether we can expect to see sets available for our cars.

I just did some more checking on the above website. Apparently, the NGK Racing Powercables are also available for the 3rd Gen 1.6L but not for the 1.8L. They are also available for the 2nd Gen 1.8L. Possibly other models also but I didn't check the entire range. Those of you needing to replace your ignition wires might want to consider these as an alternative to stock. Still no ignition wires of any kind made by NGK are listed for the 2.0L engine however.
