what is the best type of oil for my protege..

I need an oil change and I need to know what type of oil is the best for my car. I drive a 2002 Protege ES. Any tips will be appreciated.

Synthetic. Pick one, they're all pretty good. I've been using royal purple 10-40, or Redline.
'90 AWD Protege, full GTR drivetrain swap, ~320 whp daily driver, RIP, and
'90 AWD Protege, yet another GTR swap, Open class rallycar with a Toyota GT4 gearbox swap, thus crossing the line between hobby and mental illness. And a Brabus E55 K8, removing all doubt.

I run 10W-30 Castrol GTX dino oil in my 94 LX. It runs like a top and gets good mileage, so I keep using it. I also use Purolator filters almost exclusively.

I run Shell Rotella 15W-40 in my brother's 94 VW Golf, as anything lighter seems to make the oil light come on. I don't pretend to understand why it needs the thick stuff to keep oil pressure up, but it makes for a happy ABA.

It needs the thicker stuff cuz there's too much tolerance in the oil pump or bearings. The thicker stuff oozes outta the gaps slower so there's more pressure. Whatever works, man!

yea, vw's are supposed to use heavy oils. i think that's actually what the owners manual calls for on my brothers rabbit.

you'll have to run out to your local lindsay lohan and get some more.
