It wasn't fun. It sucked unbelievable amounts of balls.

But yes, i put poly in place. Tomorrow i'm doing the motor mounts (Mazda Competition mounts), vc gasket, exhaust manifold gasket, and installing Iconel studs with mil-spec distorted lock nuts for the turbo.

It's pretty cool. Was kindof a pain in the ass for this particular job since it's a platform style and i had to remove the exhaust from the midpipe back and the millions of braces on this damn car.

It was annoying. Took me 12 hours because there's no specific write-up for the MSM. I could do it again in about 3 hours now that i know what works and what doesn't.

Not portable, but when it's all the way down, it's only about 3" tall at most. Big platform. Makes a nice work bench when there isn't a car on it.

It's from Greg Smith Equipment Supply, Atlas mid-rise lift. $1400.

It's about as good as it gets in a normal residential garage. Unless you want to sink a scissors lift of some sort into your floor.

I've actually been strongly contemplating a Dannmar MAXJAX for my garage. only a 9' ceiling in there, so a full-sized lift would take a bit of work to make fit properly. You can get them new for ~$2300 bucks at times, sometimes $1900 at Costco every once in while.

I've got a buddy with one, and it works really nice. He was working on a '69 Falcon for awhile, and it was easy and comfy to get underneath, just sitting on a rolling office chair. Cool thing is, my buddy's working on selling his house, and he might actually sell me his lift and tig welder and a couple other odds and ends.

For all those people who find it more convenient to bother you with their question rather than to Google it for themselves.
The T3 BP MX-3 conversion has begun, and is taking forever & will kill me.

I'd get a MaxJax over the one in my picture any day of the week.

I looked at the MaxJax, and it still needs to be bolted down. Not really "portable" in my book

You take out five bolts per column, lean it back, and wheel it out of the way. need to use it? bring it back, bolt it back down. With an impact wrench, it's less than five minutes for both columns, in my buddy's garage.

Want it in a different bay of your garage? put more anchors in. wanna use it outside? put some footings with anchors in the driveway, then wheel it out there!

I guess it really depends on your definition of the term "portable" though.

At least you can move the MaxJax by yourself... You aren't moving this platform lift anywhere without the help of about 4-5 large buddies and a trailer.

pulled the diff so we can swap in a welded one, got halfway through removing one of the RLCAs to replace the ball joints and decided I'd rather take a nap.

got an event on the 10th, the car might even be done

Scrapped the probe, and kinda half-ass cleaned up the garage.

Then I pulled the 2000 Miata out of its hiding spot, and snuck it in the garage next to the 1999 Miata. Then I spent an hour or so, swapping parts over.

have my first drift event on Friday, so over the past few days I've been trying to get it ready:

                                -swapped in welded diff
-replaced all rear brake hard lines
                                -braided stainless rear flex lines
-swapped in another RLCA (ball joint was damaged on the one that was in the car and I don't have time to put in a new one)
                                -new muffler hanger bracket
                                -replaced driver's shoulder belt
                                -found a battery tie-down
-fixed the driver's side wiper arm
-acquired a driver's side hood hinge to replace the one I broke
-bought new drift spares and installed them
                                -fixed leaky power steering line
                                -fixed lower fan shroud
and I'm sure other stuff I'm forgetting.

still have to clean the rest of the parts out of the car, put the interior back together, replace the brake light switch, roll the rear fenders, and I don't remember what else... car's getting loaded onto the trailer Thursday so it all has to be done tomorrow night.
