      finished resurfacing the block
pulled the cams out of the head
installed the new head gasket and put the head back on
torqued the new head bolts to the first torque value (gotta get a new torque wrench to finish)
reinstalled the intake manifold and fuel rail
      removed the EGR and AIV
      test-installed the new header

gotta find the EGR block-off, extend the O2 sensor wiring, torque the head bolts, reinstall the cams and upper cam chain, and some other stuff Sunday. hoping to have it running again on Monday.

Itll keep up with most stuff on the road. Probably around 275hp. Id love to put a bigger turbo on it but Im already pushing the limits of what the stock pistons can take (t7 car). My friend has a 98 9000 aero (t5 car) that were going to put a holset on and go for 400-500 on stock block.

            What it looks like now

Yeah, I had two 9-3s come in this year, same motor as your car, no compression cyl. 1. Took the head off, chunks of piston missing. The B205 & B235 motors are junk compared to the B204 & B234. The best thing you could do is put the 9000 block in there. Those motors are bombproof. And they don't have the oil leak and sludge build up problems of the newer motors.

Car is clean and sharp. Needs some Viggen parts.

torqued head bolts, installed cams, went to torque the upper timing idler pulley and ripped the threads out of the head.

                this ****in motor is jinxed.

It might end up going in. Over the past few days Ive noticed a rattle on start up and low oil pressure when hot. Finally was able to check the oil in daylight today and its all sparkly. Getting ready to drop the pan now and see whats going on.

after three tries (and a $70 Helicoil kit purchase) I finally managed to get the bolt to go in properly and get the idler gear thing back on... only to discover that with any force more than like 15-20 ft-lbs, the bolt just spins.

                    what the actual ****.

going to have to take the head back off and take it to the machine shop, apparently.

Pitman arm on the Avalanche. 3/4 impact FTW. 1,000 ft lbs nut buster.
The T3 BP MX-3 conversion has begun, and is taking forever & will kill me.

Oil looked like liquid alumium when I drained it.

bought another iron block boat anchor for it.

gonna pull the pan and get an oil return added.

"it's missing one of the valve cover bolts, I'm not sure what happened."

pull valve cover today to see what I'm working with (and this is as far as I'm taking this motor apart), find missing bolt sitting under the exhaust cam.

oh well. I'm sure it'll be fine.
