new posts

haven't updated in forever. did a whole bunch of boring **** that was annoying.

    things that are left:
    -mount boost gauge/run wires&vacuum hose
-sort out vacuum lines (charcoal canister whatsit, boost gauge, wastegate)
-figure out how to run the PCV system (reading S-chassis forums to try to figure this out is legit making me dumber)
-make/install new battery tray and modify wiring
    -install new ECU
    -install fuel pump
-get downpipe modified so it actually fits the car
    -do burnouts

Finally the heads came back for the Nissan VQ30, this project was a nightmare from the very start. Who the hell designs an engine where you have to take off both the lower and upper oil pan just to get the god forsaken timing covers off? FML FOR REAL YO! Wurd

Well then... That settles it I am going to japan to find the engineer and kick him square in the sack. Or it. Dealership my friend bought the car from swore they did everything to fix the problem with the heating issue, got down to the heads, two center bolts in the head were tight, but not torqued down like the rest and little effort to break free. Lucky for my friend, I was up for this task. Now I just wanna put a stick of dynamite under the hood and do the world a big favor. With the engineer team in the car.

^^ ya they did, then the 3.5L, timing was an issue with some of the parts so most modified or did a fix using first gen timing assembly. If I am wrong please feel free to correct me, just what I read, on the internet.

Eh I'd rather work on a 240 than a miata.

The only thing that's a giant pain in the ass(for me) is some of the transmission bolts that only people with child hands could feasibly reach compared to all the poor design in the miata ie the "cooling" system routing, anything by the firewall, anything on the transmission, the standard "good luck removing me" B series intake manifold.

Oh and my standard bitch about pop up headlights for both of them.

Well... I will just clean everything else have a couple cold ones while I think long and hard about whether I should motivate myself to put it back together... Should have it done by Tuesday.

word to this. don't forget the joys of timing belt replacement.

(PS we've discovered it's easier and faster to just yank a 240's motor/transmission as an assembly than try to drop the trans by itself)

intended to finish up the vacuum lines today, but the genius at Advance gave me hose that is slightly too big and would have just fallen off of the wastegate actuator.

I at least had enough hose left from the last time I did vacuum lines on the car to run the signal line to the boost gauge. I'm thinking about taking the gauge apart since the plastic has gotten horribly discolored (I'd just replace it with a new piece from another gauge) and the wires for the light are barely connected, but all of what I've read about taking gauges apart leads me to believe I will pretty much destroy it doing so- at least the outer ring. given that it's an RE Amemiya gauge, I'd kinda like to not do that. any tips?
