I used my non-protege to show a feller that yes, his P85D is really really fast from 0 to 60, but from 60 on it's nowhere near as fast as he'd hoped...

In following measurements provided by a super great 240sx forum I bought some very expensive seat-belt bolts that are about 7cm too short. Still rocking the no seatbelt life for that.
Successfully managed to get the brake lights working proper and greased the steering column. Once I get the speed sensor swapped out and the backup lights hooked up it will be stupid close to road legal.
240SX forums are remarkably similar to Escort forums.
also I feel like the large majority of S13s have non-functional reverse lights. mine didn't work at first, then I wired them in, now (since the clutch swap) they don't work again. one more thing I have to take care of the next time I'm in CT.

My reverse, license plate, and 3rd brake lights don't work on my Miata. Somehow i think they're tied to the fact that i've done the clutch twice and installed a ricer CF trunk. I should get that figured out.
Ben I am baffled by and applaud your car-purchasing decisions.
You know how they say don't **** where you eat?
That's how i buy cars. :D
Anyways, that's a 2003 20th Anniversary black on black Montero. Not that pos Montero Sport thing, but a REAL Montero. 109k miles (now 111k that it's home), damn near showroom mint. Old Man Emu HD 2" lift, 33" Duratrecs, some bright Hella bulbs, and an MPOW bluetooth adapter. Stock otherwise. Everything works.
I love this thing. Wife will be driving it. My 98 2dr 5spd 4x4 4.0 Cherokee was totaled 8 weeks ago on Tuesday, and insurance still hasn't paid me a dime on it, couldn't keep driving Miata every day, so had to make something happen. Jumped on this for a steal, and now i'm taking over Crystal's 2000 Cherokee Sport 4x4, the one i lifted a year or so ago.
HOWEVER, i love this Montero so much that i'll be cleaning up the Cherokee to sell and get my own, though i'll probably shoot for a 98-99 "Gen2.5" because i don't like nice things, and they look cool. Looking for one with the winter package for the 9.5" locker rear end.
Oh, and i'll be looking in PacNW because i've done a fly 'n' drive twice to Socal now and i want a change of pace (and a reason to go through Montana/Dakotas in a truck).

Eh I'd say the escort forms are similar to honda forums but with people that couldn't afford a used Honda. 240 forums all seem to be stance/FF/need for speed fans and have no general car knowledge, or general knowledge. I'd love for a forum that was similar to miata turbo but a bit more serious. I'd get banned from miata.net like forums for some reason.
Got the speed sensor replaced. I think it's not reporting quite right (~9sec 0-60 seems too fast for this pile) but I cant be sure due to the low report rate on my GPS speedometer in the wooded area I drive the car.
None of my other transmission switches have any wiring at all so I'm going to have to buy at least 2 new ones, one for neutral and one for reverse.
I also think my gas gauge is broken.

I think you'd love this Montero, it's a BRUTE.
does the wiring for that stuff run through the harness on the PPF like the o2 sensors?
every Montero I ever saw at work was completely thrashed so I was never sure if they were actually terrible to drive or it was just the ones I was getting. that thing looks super clean though, I might not ever buy one but I'm into it. I miss being able to drive over stuff, I think if it weren't for the fact that it would be completely pointless here I'd buy something dumb.

I dunno, the 240 forums I've checked out have the same sort of idiots:people who know **** ratio as Escort forums. 240SXOne isn't too bad, there are dudes on there that actually know how to work on cars, and KA-T.org isn't bad either the last I checked.
~9 sec to 60 actually sounds about right for a stock 240, what tire size are you running? also, why replace the neutral switch?

It just seems too fast for the single slammer with black tar in the rear diff, but it's got great compression so maybe I'm just underestimating it.
I have some decent tread ~235/40/17 summers or something close to that, I don't think they were that much larger OD than stock wheels/tires by much.
I'm planning on using the trans neutral switch as the starter interlock so I don't have to run wires to setup the clutch pedal.

huh, that's a pretty solid idea. mind doing a writeup whenever you get around to it? I've gotten used to making sure mine's in neutral before I turn the key, but it would be nice to not worry about it.
