Continued stripping the interior of the Z, so I can permanently rewire the sound system. A previous owner butchered it, I found a stock radio/shuttle and E34 amp. Now I just need to wire it permanently (it's been running with the amp tucked under the passenger carpet and the wires stuffed in there as well).

Did some more work stripping the interior of the Z. Now I need one of those tools to remove the carpet fasteners before I (temporarily) pull the drivers seat and also remove the right rear console pieces.

i washed the windows in the street because it wouldn't start and drained the jumper pack completely twice before finally getting it fired on the third try.

drove it around for a few hours and gave it an italian tuneup, i forgot that it's kind of fun to drive for a big dumb family sedan

Washed it, and started polishing in preparation for a hybrid ceramic spray (and an actual ceramic coating on the windows).

To my pleasant surprise, the back bumper is actually coming out nicely. I was convinced it would need a respray, because it looked like the clear coat was failing.Click image for larger version

determined through process of elimination that it probably needs a new ignition switch (the electrical bit)

              - 12.26v on the battery without the jumper pack
              - jumpered the clutch safety switch
              - whacked the starter with a big screwdriver

jumping the safety switch helped, but it still has an intermittent no-start issue where it'll either click or do nothing at all (including, delightfully, at the gas station). bought a new ignition switch after watching a replacement video, since unlike an escort it doesn't require drilling into stupid security bolts just to replace a $20 part and can be done in like 20 min

finally fixed the intermittent no-start issue, i think

                  -replaced the ignition switch
-replaced the negative cable with a new oem one for a v6
-added an "hks" ground wire kit

                  (none of this fixed it)

-replaced the starter with a good used one

                  (no more issues)

also installed a voltmeter to keep an eye on things and replaced my headlights with some projectors- going to swap in hids next

So I didn't really do this myself, but it happened at 6.55 today.

Been shaking all day with the rage. Haven't found an outlet for it yet. Supressing with lorazepam and whisky.

Ouch. I was once hit by someone who didn't look when he pulled into a boulevard (I was directly in front of him with my old VW 411), but it was nowhere near as bad as that. Hopefully you can get it fixed without having to fork out too much...

It's going to be a body swap. The floor and B-pillar are rolled up and pushed into the car. No saving it.

Finally spoke to the adjuster today. He cheerfully accepted liability, then told me the driver at the time wasn't named on the policy and didn't have a licence, so the claim was denied and I could go **** myself.

I started calling lawyers as soon as I got home. That doesn't sound right to me. The vehicle was insured, and the policy holder was in the car at the time.
