I agree that smokers taking more breaks is not fair. As said before ann. letter is best, that or contact someone higher up and have them visit your desk for a day and let them watch how many people go by for a break.

Bruce I can understand not wanting to see these people lose their jobs/homes/starving, but I can also see too much non-productivity could lead to the companies downfall (probably not but hey) then they and you will all be out of jobs period. And yes I am writing this while at work... multi tasking is different than leaving the desk for 20-30 mins any day.

Well actually I am contracted ... lol ..
I am never out of work ...

I really think I want to go back to being a supervisor though.

I'm a smoker and have a good system for smoking in the work place. I look at what needs to be done for the day and set time goals for sections of said work. When I complete a section or goal then I reward myself with cancerdy goodness. By working this way I find myself to be one of the most productive people in my office, and my bosses ( 4 of them ) agree.

I'm happy because Dima speeds, which makes him happy. He seems to be happy only when speeding, which makes me happy. And when I'm happy people around me are able to live another day. If you are alive right now, you should thank Dima.

I'm a smoker... but i'm not working right now (thank you GI Bill/disability )

when I was in the Army I used to work 12-14 hour days... smoke breaks were my only breaks, but I did more work than most non-smokers so I never felt like I was shirking responsibility. I could also run 4 miles in less than 30 minutes... not a lot of non-smokers I worked with could do that

BTW... a lot of my coworkers would join me on smoke breaks even if they didn't smoke, they called them non-smoking breaks

If that is the way you would like to see it. I waste as much time as the fat asses that visit the vending machine for a soda, candy bar, chips, and whatever else their chunky little nubs that they call fingers can grab. BTW my smoking habit doesn't cause a bug problem. My point is that everyone wastes time a work one way or another. Be it a smoke break, searching for food, surfing the net, or bitching that other people waste to much time in the work place. That is my $0.02 and I expect change.

Take notice of the time of this post. I've been at work since 10:00 a.m. yesterday morning. I think anyone who works 70+ hours a week needs a break every once and awhile.

Funny how that is, most of the smokers in the army are among the better runners. And I thought it was just in my unit.

Nah, we took tons of smoke breaks, if we were in the field we could smoke as we worked... but there was no smoking in the motorpool (unless you went behind the ISU90 )
