okay, all this fiddling around the last day or two trying to decide if i should replace my '72 SG has me curious what the rest of you guys play. here's my list:
Main guitar:
1989 Gibson SG 90 Double - the only one i've ever seen without neck binding. this model was only made for 2 years (88-89), most were wine red, and most had a crappy schaller tremolo. mine is all original, and plays fantastic. one odd thing about this model is that it has a 25.5" scale length (like a strat), as opposed to gibson's standard 24.75" scale. iirc the pickups were designed by bill lawrence for gibson.

NEW Backup Guitar:
1997 Gibson Les Paul "The Paul II" - Picked this up today (4/2/09) from some guy on craigslist. I was originally hoping to trade for the '72 below, but he decided he wanted cash. I made an offer and got it. This is yet another little known "rare" Gibson, a 2 year run (96-97). I could put some chrome pickup covers on it, and for all intents and purposes it'll look just like a LP Studio (aside from the fingerboard inlays). The cool part is that it doesn't weigh 30 pounds like every other LP. It has an SG thickness body... solid mahogany, but the top is still carved. It's just a smidge heavier than an SG though... so no neck dive! It's perfectly balanced! VERY fast neck, a smidge thicker than my '89 but a slightly narrower fingerboard.

Wall Ornament/Project:
1972 Gibson SG Pro - this thing had kind of been through hell by the time i got it. it was refinished at least once (maybe 1.5 times), but it still plays/sounds great. i installed new tuners, bridge, etc. - but the electronics are 100% original. originally came with a Bigsby tremolo which was removed prior to the refinish (mounting holes were filled). still has the original case! i'm considering selling/trading it for something else, just to get something new in my hands as i never play anymore.

Bass guitar:
1981/82 Guild SB-202 - another rare one. i haven't yet determined the exact year, but only ~300 were made between the two years combined. set neck, incredibly full sound... a little beat up but 100% original. best part... got it for $50!
