so my dad put this idea in my head last night...
he has a bunch of OLD (like 200 years old) wormy american chestnut, from various floors/posts/etc. that he has collected over the years. i was talking about making a guitar, he mentioned that chestnut would probably look pretty cool. so i poked around on the web, and found this custom made les paul:
Z0MG! that looks so fkn sweet!
he doesnt have any pieces large/thick enough to do a solid guitar body, so i was thinking i could plane like 1/2" off the top of an existing body and make a chestnut top. much like how les paul standards have a carved maple top over mahogany.
now here is the question... do i do this to a Les Paul, or a Telecaster? Either way its going to have a bolt on neck, so it wont be like a REAL les paul... just wondering which one you all think will look better with this sweet antique top.
