Trance is great on long drives. Like I always tell my friends, it makes me feel like I'm flying or something, haha.

I think it puts that effect on a lot of us!

Cruising around i usually listen to some hardcore if there's other people in the car. Throw in some Since By Man, or Orchid. Long drives...Modest Mouse. By myself it's hip-hop, the newest Jedi Mind Tricks cd has been in a lot.

I disagree... music (the right kind at least, has to be more instrumental than lyrics) helps filter outside distractions. I don't do much racing myself, but if I test a windy road or something like that I like loud music to help me focus on the way the car feels.

cruising - MetallicA (80% of the time), linkin park, dream theater (last album), korn (last album)... I moslty listen to rock music.
cruising at dusk/after dark (my favorite time for driving) - paul van dyke, enigma (last album)
racing - I don't race, but any kind of music that gets me excited makes me go faster.

Driving to where ever by myself or with Mel - Seal, Dave Mathews Band, Cold Play, Fuel, Norah Jones or similar (basically anything soft but still in the alternative range)
Driving on the highway - probably classical or classic rock
Racing - Paul Okenfield, or linkin park or similar bands
Twisties - Classical, Opera, Seal, Calpomatt(ambient type), nothing

id have to agree with you. I skate and music takes away any and all distractions while im out skating. So music in my mind is a tool and not a distraction
