    How come people do this?

I've seen people who weren't slammed do this too. Why do they rev their engine while backing up? Is it to save the clutch or? Most of my friends do it. I just tap the gas once and get out of the driveway..

I usually keep it around 3000rpm and have the clutch half way out. This saves reverse gear because the gear live is spinnin faster.

Yeah I do to but when we're leaving school they're just tapping on that gas pedal. Like they're revving the engine. Same with when they'r leaving the light.

Oh so just a bad habit? Cause I was told that shaking the stick in neutral is also a bad habbit. I do it a lot even when I know it's in neutral.

Because reverse is higher then 1st but lower then 2nd and letting the clutch all the way out causes the car to shudder most of the time. Blipping the throttle while feathering the clutch gives more slow speed control for me, plus it will also keep the engine from jerking on the mounts when you change throttle input -VS- if you have the clutch all the way out and trying to control your speed with the throttle alone.

I do what Turpro said. When I move my mom's Jetta (my car is not yet manual), I keep it at a steady rpm and have the clutch pressed in slightly. Very smooth reverse that way, I wouldn't call it a bad habit.

When the car shudders? Is that bad? Cause my dad's truck does that when he backs up.

IDK if its bad per say, but I dont like how it feels when my car does it and so I try to avoid it. I have never looked into it causing damage or anything.

Its caused from what I said earlier though. Reverse is not as low as 1st gear, so its kinda like trying to take off in 2nd but not that bad obviously.

I as actually being sarcastic lol. In all seriousness I wouldn't bring it past 1200rpm just to start going back then I'd back the throttle down unless I was going uphill or in the dirt at the jy
