IDK, it just seems like CP's days are numbered unless something changes. People are selling and moving on.
Trends, fashion, gimmicks, fads, they're all verbs. If CP chooses to stand still then don't be surprised by what happens. Not that Protege love is any of those things but, times they do change.Last edited by 1st Gen; 09-11-2011, 05:59 PM.1991 Protege LX with GTX swap, DD1990 4WD Protege with GTX swap, Project/garage decoration2006 Mazda 3 with 2.3, Her car1980 Ford F100 Short bed with 300ci 6 cylinder, work truck/home for moss

We just need to convince mazda to start making proteges again! That would solve our problems. lolMy family has lots of bg's!

i have been snooping around some other forums and they are pretty dead.. mx3.com,mazda 24/7,i mazda, and so on .. this forum has more consistent activity than most. but on the other hand. it may be a good idea to embrace some .. not all new mazda models . such as the 2 and 3. because they are a small car like the 323 and the protege.. but not let it get out of hand .
there are lots of good people in here . let's hope they don't leave or get ousted because they buy a newer mazda such as a 2 or 3.. keep the original flavor of c.p. with a few minor changes..

This is my main Mazda forum. I am on Mazdas247, but there's so many other models there it gets annoying trying to surf the forum. Not to generalize but most people there only care about their own chassis or car. Hell, I got laughed at for posting my BF in a current Mazda picture thread. Here I feel like we all respect each others chassis, and try to help out as much as possible, even if it's not a chassis that the person is into. I feel that if we tried to include all the newer chassis' it would become the same as Mazdas247. The exact incident happened to iMazda, and where is it now? Gone.
At the most, like Irishkev said, have a very small section on the 3 and 2, but keep it at that. I understand that the site might need to update in order to stay alive, but still the 323/protege should remain the key chassis here. This is literally the only forum where I can find good knowledge on my chassis, as well as good people who I would actually like meeting in person(the few I have already met, Jack, Ryan, all great guys). I would hate for all the info to get lost under the newer stuff.Last edited by DeeAOne; 09-12-2011, 12:21 AM.

I come here for one reason only: I don't have to search through a million forums looking for Protege information. As far as I'm concerned similar cars should be discussed (like the Escorts and Sephias) but models which really aren't the same deserve their own forums. I'm not sure that anything post-2003 really fits here.
Adding more sections might appeal to more people, but, then you lose your focus and end up alienating the "true believers" so to speak. God only knows how many businesses I have worked for in the past that suck butt now because they tried to be all things to all people and lose their core focus in the meantime.Last edited by smokstac; 09-12-2011, 12:22 AM.

I say keep the core B's, as well as a "current tech" section highlight innovations in the industry. Maybe some throw back something or other. Keep it simple but keep it fresh.
Beyond that, if someone is eager to take up the flag on a certain make or model, let em. Other wise keep it simple but keep it fresh.1991 Protege LX with GTX swap, DD1990 4WD Protege with GTX swap, Project/garage decoration2006 Mazda 3 with 2.3, Her car1980 Ford F100 Short bed with 300ci 6 cylinder, work truck/home for moss

I agree that Mazdas24/7 is where the newer gen cars are favored. Yes, they have a first and second gen Protege section, but it's literally dead. I have tried to revive it by posting in years old threads just get some attention, but not even a "stop bumping dead threads" reply happened. This is where Proteges take center stage. I also think a "Modern/New Technology" section would be appropriate, especially considering Mazda's release of its SkyActiv Technologies. I forgot about the Mazda2, but I think it should have its own section as well depending on the demand.
Back to Mazdas24/7, I didn't include the third gen Proteges because they have a slightly stronger following there than the other chassis. Mainly because of the MSP, MP3 and P5 versions. I'm sure once that section dies down, people will need a new place to live and, therefore, will end up here.

I remember a guy parting out an MP3 and I asked about the bumpers and side skirts for my car, knowing they would need cutting and fitting to make the lips work on my bumpers, but I was willing to try it. Someone else replied, saying they wouldn't fit and I shouldn't bother even trying on my car. There's absolutely no support for anything "do it yourself" over there.
I think I got a little carried away, but my point is, we should keep this an enthusiast forum. Too much and we lose that focus and that feeling of community and fellowship. I've only met one member in person, yet I feel like I've known some of you for years. I love the support here and I don't want to see it diluted by people who don't fully love their cars and their own hard work like we do here.
As stated before, a few new section should be added to keep things fresh:
-Mazda3 (no individual chassis subforums, though)
-Mazda2 (again, no idividual chassis)
-Modern/Next Generation Technology (showcasing Mazda's new SkyActiv products, technical discussions, rotary, hybrid, etc.)

Hmmm! So what about we folk who both own a 3rd Gen Protege and, in my case, maintain and co-drive my wife's 1st Gen 3. Maybe someday I'll buy a 3 myself, even (horrors), a 2nd Gen 3. Gosh, the 1st Gen 3s are already kaput and out of production, just like the BJs. Funny, the reason I suggested my wife buy a 3 was because of my great experience with my own Protege (which was the first Mazda I ever owned), and because I saw it as the natural successor to the no-longer available BJ. As far as I'm concerned, the 3 is as much an enthusiasts car as any of the Proteges. But of course, I could be wrong.
But, oh well, from the way the poll is running I better get busy and start searching for a reliable 3 Forum just in case, should that day ever come. Forewarned is forearmed and better to be safe than sorry.02 DX Millenium Red - The Penultimate Driving Machine
