My friend had a Grand Am GT with the 2.3 HO engine and I could beat him in my '89 Beretta GT 2.8 when I had it... And THAT car was a peice of ****. what year was the GA? If it was 94-95 ok it had a little less power...but the 92 had 190hp stock....

and no proteges are not faster than grand ams...

well the mazdaspeed is faster than some of them, but a new GAGT vs a new mazdaspeed pro would be a drivers race. both his 15.5s consistently...wtih a few up or down.....

sure they handle well, but those who drive americans cars dont give a flying flip about handling...remember that.

How did I get owned? I beat my friend when he had his car. Maybe he can't drive, but if it was such a god of an engine it shouldn't matter?

I beat him off the line and up through third gear (~70ish), and NO this wasn't my protege.

the 90 HO w41 runs high 14s stock

92 GT ho 15.5 easy

96 se yea thats about right

99GT is 15.5 not a 15.9

i think ive seen enough slips/mod lists/ etc etc etc about grand ams in the past 4 years to know.

the kid that lives near ehre with the blackm azdaspeed was running 11+ 1/8s at teh track here haha....on slicks

I don't think slicks are beneficial to a car like the mazdaspeed, and if he's smart enough to buy them for his car, he must be a good driver.
