The design on the plate looks nice.

I know this is the prototype, but what thickness are you going to use on the final product?

1/8" or 3.175mm thick plate--- slightly reinforced between the block mounting points, which is overkill anyhow.

With all things considered- the prototype plate is holding all of the weight currently with minimal deflection. so the final thickness will be plenty sufficient.
I made one final change to thicken up the area to the block bolt pattern. which should allow this piece to remain 100% for many years without worry of issues

Ok, that should be more than adequate then. The flex in the plate was my main reason for asking, but you got that well sorted. Since this is a once off item, an overkill is better then no kill at all.

just as a point of interest, in South Africa the A/C is the first to the bin in a most conversions......lol!

A/C actually works in this 323!!!! First BG i can say that i've owned with working A/C. short of that, theres HEAPS of room with the FE3 & the way i have my turbo positioned - might as well make good use of it

I don't know much about BG's, since we never got them in SA. In SA the BF was produced untill 2003/2004, and I got a 98 model with a FE motor in ( 2l 8V carb fed) and on my car there is plenty of room for the A/C. So I can only imagine that the BG must have relatively the same engine bay capacity.

I like your idea with sticking with the luxuries of a car, which tells me that you are planning on day to day FE3-T.

yes i will be daily driving the 323. I've never used air-conditioning in the past. im actually not fond on anything cold (i currently live in a snowy climate)

more so if i ever get a pansy female in the car who can't handle the heat
