My FE3 progress thread

see thats kinda what i read. The first mvs wo watercooling had some issues. I was cross between the tial & a turbosmart. But I can't find any information what materials turbosmart uses(main concern) as that's the reasoning of failure behind this gate.
If you have any descriptive info on the turbosmart ill take a further look into it. I need soomething within the next few days tho.

I'll see what i can dig up. You're looking for a 38mm vband gate, right? I'll look around on their website, but honestly if you shoot them an email asking about materials, they're good about answering that kind of stuff.

More personal anecdotes concerning my car at the risk of sounding like i have an agenda:

1) Spool with the Turbosmart is quite a bit quicker than it ever was with the Tial
2) The Turbosmart sounds unholy
3) Turbosmart customer service has been much better than Tial's ever was for me. (I've had to pester both companies for spring information)

Ima dig around for a bit on the Turbosmart stuff. I know the valve is a 1-piece SS design, but i don't know exactly which SS it is.

Thanks for jogging my memory by the way... reminded me i need to buy a 10psi spring to stack over my current 7psi spring. Got some weird things happening in terms of spool in the 20psi+ area, which is to be expected when you're trying to run 300% spring pressure i suppose...

Tyler I was admitted to the hospital this morning. The spider bite I got Friday became really severe.
So no updates for at least a few more days as I'm not sure how long ill be stuck in here.

Mainpoint. I'm still alive & hopefully ill keep all of my limbs =P

I don't know the type of spider - i didn't see it or realize i was even bit. Upper left thigh. just below the waistband line. quite a ****ty place.
but currently........... on a light pain killer

Staph infection was grown from the Pus culture
Full results will come back tomorrow as to full treatment options. i've been on 2 antibiotic IV's one of them vancomyacin the other levofloxacin.
Its difficult to walk around or do much of anything else at the moment (missus isn't to happy )
Im still alive & looking forward to working on the 323 again soon. fingers crossed i can get home tomorrow

Updates!

long overdue progress.. not the prettiest work i've done. but **** happens.

I should have it back on the ground tomorrow running again with more pictures
(testing for exhaust leaks @ all of the V bands/etc)

Upgraded wastegates to a Turbosmart® comp gate 40.
hotside V-band is MUCH nicer to work with in comparison to the 5 bolt flange originally on the turbo.

completely removed the 2.5" catback exhaust system i had on the car in favor of mocking up the 3" full stainless

nice man! I love the new wastegate...progress is coming along strong! 3" exhaust ftw!!!
