    Aspire B3+T

I've been asked a few times to post pictures of my setup over the years but I always kept forgeting but an old pm just reminded me so here goes.

The vehicle is a 1995 Ford Aspire 5 speed of which I've own for 14+ years. When I set this up it had around 65k on the clock. Ive now got around 75k. It has the original engine and trans.

The turbo I selected was a brand new VJ 14 due to it's smaller size. I modified the factory tubular type manifold with a custom flange and and added an egt gauge port. The wastegate is set at 3psi since I'm running stock management. 93 octane and NGK colder plugs

The intake utilizes a modified 3rd gen escort conical filter housing and intake tube with the maf removed. The iat is relocated to the throttle body inlet and the stock maf is plumbed midway inline between the intercooler and the throttle body. I run a recirculated greddy bov plumbed on the hot side of the ic recirced right back into the turbo inlet.

The exhaust is a full length custom 304ss 2 1/4 dual side exit as designed and fabbed by me

I run a turboworks intercooler and an innovate wide band along with the autometer egt gauge.

Never ran on a dyno. Ran surprising well using the maf setup. It was designed to be completetly removable. I removed the setup for last winter minus the exhaust. and I didn't install it this summer as I'm building a BP. Havent given up on it by anymeans just get side tracked. I'm going to run megasquirt eventually

Nice. unique, thats for sure. lol but why go through all that trouble for 3psi? On that turbo 3psi probably is what? 15-20 whp gain?

I did it mostly just because I can. And as far as output goes yeah 3psi isnt much but on stock internals, No real tune and 9.4:1 cr. 3psi was my way of detuning. Ran it all summer without any issues inspected the plugs and borescoped the cylinders often. I have a goal of 6-7psi properly tuned which would still only raise the output to below a b6t, so yeah it was a just because project..

Thanks much for the compliments. That exhaust has been on there for 3 winters so far. All the hangers are also stainless. The most maintenance it needs is a wipe down with pb blaster and ATF every few months to remove the grime and then glass cleaner to remove the pb/ATF

I'm going to design a similar exhaust for the Stiva when I get one but it will be routed in the factory location no side exit just Stainless and 2 1/4"

Really neat build! I like it! Great welding skills, too. I saw your work on the airbox bracket, or something close to that. Did you make a bracket to hold the turbo to the BP engine?

Thanks for the compliment. Yes that is the air box bracket. Designed to be adjustable, be hidden and to nestle the air cleaner between the headlight and the battery. Took me a bit to figure that one out

Edit: forgot to respond to the turbo bracket.

The turbo is being supported using the turbo support bracket I made for the b3 setup. It bolted on to the BP block and bolts to the down pipe elbow using one bolt. The reason for the bungee was to hold it on the other side to level it. I was starting to mock up for a turbo mani but decided even though it looks like it's in the same spot, I better wait till it's in an engine bay to be certain of radiator and exhaust positioning and indexing before i weld it together. Not certain if this will work with the accessory drive but I did bolt on my aspire dealer installed a/c bracket and compressor and it cleared the downpipe elbow by more than an inch so it looks promising to run a front mounted turbo on a BP and have a/c..! Next mockup I will post photos and also setup the pulleys too

                              neat car.

a VJ14 is wayyyyyyy too small for a BP though
