My protege Sounds like a Subbie?

A couple months back I uploaded pics of my ride. And how I said I would be done by March. I'm almost done. Here is the new muffler along with wheels. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y17E_...ature=youtu.be

you're hearing the baffling in the exhaust system lol. Most Subarus sound like that due to their unequal length exhaust manifold design (on
    top of the boxer design)

The baffling. That a bad thing?

Baffling is just the interior design of a muffler that routes the exhaust gasses out of the muffler. Not a bad thing. Different baffle designs yield a different sound. My old P5 sounded a little like a Subie, too.

So you wouldn't get that baffling sound with a straight pipe?

No. You'd probably sound like a tin can full of pissed off bees with a straight pipe. Are you saying you don't want it to make the sound it's making?

No. My friend wants to straight pipe his car. And he was asking how I got that baffling sound. I believe that the manufacturers put every part there for a purpose. I absolutely love the sound it's making. Cause straight piping a civic... I don't think it'll sound too good.

Straight piping anything that isn't turbocharged and/or greater than 4 cylinders generally doesn't sound good.

I agree, n/a 4 cylinders should always have a resonator and a chambered muffler. The driver will be able to have conversations, and so will the people around him.

Personally I'd never "straight pipe" a street car. Although I'm not against running a massive resonator and no muffler on a turbo car

Thanks a lot guys on your opinion on straight piping. Only thing is that here in Florida we don't really have any restrictions on cars. Not even an inspection. It's insane so street you turn there's a loud ass civic.

^Tell me about it. My last car was essentially a 70% complete Spec Miata, exhaust and all. All it had was a resonator and it was louuuuuud. I'm surprised I was never stopped by the fuzz.

I miss it sometimes. It hasn't sounded like that in years. It's since been de-modded and is now in the hands of my mother, who is slowly trashing it...
