Bought a 2000 Miata in February of '12. I was very very picky. It took 4 years to track it down. I enjoyed every moment of owning it. Until May 2012, when a lady drove her explorer up and over it.
Fast forward to February of '13. Just bought another NB. This time it was a 1999, and I was not picky. I jumped on the ad as soon as I saw it on CL. It was a pretty bare shell for just $300, and he would deliver for $50. We chatted for a while, and I ended up paying $550 delivered, but he threw in two drivers headlights, a drivers fender, both airbags, and the airbag control module, plus misc other odds and ends. I need a hood, and maybe a few other things still, but not much.
The plan is simple. Strip the 1999 almost all the way down, then use the wrecked 2000 as a donor. I'm not going to just swap everything over, I am going to try to lighten it up as much as humanly possible. I am also going to clean up everything, and tuck as much wiring as I can. I want the engine bay to look bare, but I'm not going to shave it. Not sure if the car will be painted, or just be multi-color for a while.
I am going to use the BP4W temporarily to get it certified and titled, then I will swap something else in. Not sure what yet, phase one is diet and assembly, phase two is certification and driving the piss out of it over the summer, phase three is ?????.
Trying to keep this short, so on to pictures.
