1985 Mazda GLC "323" work log, it's time to make this classic fly!

Well, as some of you may or may not know someone totaled my 323 GT a few weeks ago. I was quite salty as I loved this car. So, I went looking for a replacement shell/swap car. I was thinking Kia Rio Cinco or festiva maybe just another 323. Then I saw this little gem staring back at me from about 4 hours away (near Charlotte). The add said he wanted $800 firm which I wasn't happy with I offered him $600, he sent me video's and lots of pictures but i somehow missed the drivers side door dents. So Tuesday I embarked on the mission to go get her. I ended up giving him $575 for it, hopped in the thing fired right up. On the road I went, everything works in the car, including the A/C (needs freon) and it still has the original warranty card and owners manual in it (I was really hoping the windows sticker as well, but no). The car looks like it hasn't been washed since the 90's. I am the 4th owner, it was bought new by the guys best friends parents. Went through him and his sister all the way through college then was sold to the guy I got it from. It has it's dent and things that need to be cleaned but is just too rad looking for me to hate on. Plans are full b6t, disc brake, suspension swap out of the 323. I was reading a few swap threads on KB lasers and found out everything is pretty much bolt in. Hopefully someone with a carby festiva will pick up the stock 1.5 as it runs like a champ and would make a neat non FI swap! Well onto the pics!

One of my favorite things is the hood!

Well hope you enjoyed checking out my project. It will be a couple months before swap mania begins. We need to clear some junk out of the shop first! Stay tuned for turbo goodness in a few months!

Let me know. Hopefully in the next month or so, I can get my car one color, interior black and a little lower in the front and back rocking the steelies. Trying to sell the miata wheels.

As long as the shell has little to no rust, you have a good chassis.

                            Nice find!

I may go with a rocketchip and t25 or possibly leave it stock. I may not even swap the engine now. I may have to Daily the car for a while and may want to put more into my other project at the moment.

It's remarkably clean, for the vintage. It needs a lot of body work. I may just bang it out the best it can be and go rat style with it. Who knows, I always get ideas well looking at it. I guess it all depends on if the Gt bumpers fit.
