    50 lap enduro race

His is the first portion of a my first 50 lap enduro race in my 91 323. Keep en eye out at the one minute mark and youll see me do a complete 360 without ever slowing down.

I have 3 or 4 more videos to complete the entire race so stay tuned.

Also have a video of an "autocross" race. Its an event put on by our local fair and is more like stadium truck racing in fwd cars.

Nice! I run a 323 in enduro races as well! I race part time (used to do it full time until i started college.) in the Impact Survival Series, a traveling enduro series that runs on both dirt and paved tracks. 300 laps (with a 10 minute break at lap 150 to change tires and fill the fuel tanks. We stop our cars wherever we are on the track, and do our work right there, so the fans can watch.) on 1/4 mile tracks, 150 (nonstop) or 200 (with break at lap 100) on 1/3 mile tracks. Normally $1200 to win, and $1000 second place, and some amount of payment through 30th place, but starting last year they held two $5000 to win events. And for all races, the top two finishers lose their cars. The series then waits until after the next race, and puts the winning cars up for sale on ebay. Highest bidder gets them. That way people don't spend too much money on a car. And if you break down or crash and can't get your car moving within two laps, they red flag the race and leave your car where it is as an added challenge for other drivers. And sometimes your car gets hit and destroyed. But this also keeps people from spending big money on their cars. The promoter is trying to keep it a cheap form of racing. (But some people still spend tons of money on their cars. But it does keep the real race cars out most of the time.)

            Anyways, here's my car:

There are 3 semi local tracks that race regularly. two are only 50 lap races and they race every friday and every saturday throughout race season. $300 to win

One is Skyline Speedway the other is Midway speedway. Atomic speedway has a 100 lap $500 to win once a month all year long.

Also 4 or 5 other tracks that are close to me that do occasional ones.

I also run at a local fairgrounds a couple times a year in what they are calling auto cross. Basically its a 20 lap heat race and 40 lap feature on a offroad type course with jumps and obsticals.

WI has all the cool stuff, you guys have a nice tough truck circuit to that i wish we had down here.

We have to be 100% stock. other than saftey equipment but they dont require a cage or harness even. I average 60+mph so I want to be safe so i have a loop bar and harness. your car's front bumper would DQ for our races have to be factory type bumpers. I had to argue to be allowed to race the chevette bumper I am running. they too leave the cars on the track, just stop to get the driver out, and most tracks flip directions half way through so you cant set the car up to make left turns.

That's pretty neat that you guys run every week. We have local tracks that run 4 cyl cars every week, but they run 15-20 lap features, which to me is boring. You are only getting warmed up at that point. lol. Plus they only pay 50 to win. (at the most.) I wouldn't want to run in the opposite direction, though. I feel it's unsafe, as your driver side is the one the will take the hit if you crash into the wall. Plus we set our cars up to run one way, and they don't like turning the other way so much.

Most of the local tracks require stock vehicles as well. Or at least stock appearing. The furthest the local tracks go into the engine is the valve cover. The enduro series I run in never pulls anything apart, so as long as it appears stock, anything goes. Some guys build up their engines pretty good, but I still run a 195,000 mile engine in mine that hasn't ever been apart. I don't have the power the others do, but I can still keep up with most of them if i set my car up right and push myself hard enough. The steel bar in the front of the car is a radiator protection bar. We are allowed 6 feet of 1" diameter, 1/8" thick steel bars to build a radiator protection device so that we don't take out our radiator if we rear end someone on a red flag, and go under their rear bumper. And I'm really big on safety as well. I have a full cage, aluminum racing seat, 5 point harness, battery disconnect, quick disconnect steering wheel with nose pad, and tons of roll bar padding.

I top out at 78 mph on one of the tracks (average speed is around 50 because one of the corners has to be taken at around 25 mph.) and when I was running 1/4 mile tracks a few years ago with my old car, we were running about 50 mph average because the track is so flat. I ran the milwaukee mile once, and we were running over 100 mph there. That was tons of fun.

I see your doors are skinned too. We cant do that, they have to be 100% stock. they dont check motors but we can protest a car if we think its not stock. But no one can catch me or the toyota sienna minivan so im not complaining.

we only run 50 laps, becuase we do it every week and they want our cars to last. The turn us around so that we cant set our cars up to corner better like you have yours set up. Its a way of keeping us entirely stock.

Well, "technically", they don't allow skinned doors in our series either, but I did it anyways because other guys were doing it, and I wanted room for my roll cage.

They still allow minivans to race with you guys? That's cool. They banned them here because of safety concerns (big heavy van, with lightweight small cars like the honda crx. Not a good combo.), and because people were using them as tanks and just moving everyone out of the way. I sort of miss seeing them, though. There was always a $50 bonus to the highest finishing minivan, and if you won with one, you got an extra 500.

And I guess you're right about needing to run short races to make sure the cars hold up. Most people here have trouble keeping their cars together on dirt. The suspension just can't handle the rough dirt track.

How many cars do you guys usually have each race?

They allow us to run anything thats 2wd. and 1 ton or smaller. But some tracks say no smaller than mid-sized ( which to them is crx, metro, etc)

I run against 4 door derby cars and get beat on by them all the time.

Depends on what track is running what. 10-20 on average. sometime smore
