Your running a standalone. Just put some stronger rods and you'll be fine.
I also blew my engine that way. I'm runnig stock ECU. Nothing happened to the cylinder head or crankshaft. The rod just came loose. My 323 blew fourth rod. Stock BP's don't hold over 300hp. My 323 put out 290hp and had this setup for a year.

Kia trannies are not stronger then Mazda trannies.... they have more gussets on the bellhousing which helps case flex to a certain point. beyond that the internals are basically the same. its overrated in my opinion. either way weld the diff pin in all situations unless its a quaife or something. get a LSD in there if you don't have one MSP one @ the very least.

im aware of that the quaife lsd is the one i want i have a MS LSD just don't feel like taking apart the tranny apart or until i get another spare tranny im still a whiles away from having the drive train setup i want.

              Quaife LSD

              driveshaftshop 900hp axles

tilton twin disc from a 1.8 miata will work in a FWD i've istalled it in another MX-3 a year ago so i know it will work.

another $5000 in just parts its not going to make the tranny any stronger probly hold a lot more HP for a lil longer. just takes time and money saving my pennies until i can afford it lil by lil

as for welding the diff i rather not do that..

in time it will no longer be a street car but a trailer queen if u know what i mean..

he doesn't mean welding the diff so it will no longer be a diff but welding the diff pin to the diff so it won't come out accidentally.

I've read that the pin coming out is a common problem, I've never had it happen but I have stripped a spider gear (minimal 1 wheel peels just hard accel from a dead stop). Are the MSP ones stronger in this respect?

well if you get a new one- zero miles its better in that respect, as far as material used. no one has ever done tests.

Wow I hope I dont run into that though but my goal is 450hp whenever I get the motor done. The whole motor will be built, I will restart my thread in the Escort section once I get the line boring done. Good luck bro!!!!
Block is almost done, cylinders are overboard for Weisco pistons, pro gram billet main caps have been line bored, and my chinese EDT rods have been machined to right specs. Everything has been balanced.
