well i also use atf in my 5speed. its just feels smooth and more free moving and i hate the smell of gearlube.the only problem i see with usen atf is that you can probably foaming up the atf in the tran.but thats about it atf also gets in bearing better.

but in the other hand the atf can be slashing off at high rpm ?

      Good luck

text update. the LSD looks just as good as the day i installed it. The transmission had previous bearing whine which already had me planning to pull & swap the LSD into the other tranny to start with. the problem was the abuse combined with a bearing ready to go out. ATF isn't the culprit im pretty damn certain of that.

Anyhow the culprit was a failed bearing bellhousing side of the secondary shaft. that blew apart & destroyed a few gears in the making & pushed the 5th gear housing bearing through flush with the 5th gear case. I also found the 10mm bolt which holds the reverse shaft in place was halfway out & loose (unsure if thats attributed to the damage that took place or if it was loosening up on its own. (always use locktite on the inside bolts)
Anyhows i have pictures but im not quite home to upload them.
I'll be installing a new tranny cooler pump & the LSD into the other case(mint internals-best i've ever seen) so the car will be back on the road come wensday

thats the bearing that ive been told fails most often... bellhousing end of the secondary shaft. its due to all the stress from the ring/pinion gear.

& pictures of the demise & the new trans with a new cooler pump & a long 5th gear

I was so excited to take the tranny apart i used the local gas station's free air & attached my air gun to buzz the end shaft nuts off.
