Good luck asking intruder anything. I think he's given up on the protege and hasn't logged in in over a month
I live my life a quarter pounder at a time. And for those 500 calories or more, I'm free. I need FRIES! Two of them. The big ones. Oh, and I need them tonight. You're lucky the double shot of BBQ sauce didn't blow the seam on your nugget box. There she is, 2 pounds of pure beef. My dad ate it in 9.0 seconds flat. Check it out, it's like this. If I lose, winner takes my happy meal. But if I win, I take the burger and the toy. To some people, that's more important.
Not for the past month or so since it has no trans, but yeah, it's my daily driver. I have a few other cars to choose from though, so getting it back on the road is not that important, other than that it's taking up a garage bay where one of the 'nicer' cars usually stays ('99 Maxima). I've been driving my younger brother's Altima (actually my first car) since he's not going to school over the summer. Also have an '01 Trooper to carry crap in and my older brother's '99 TL.
So, yeah, three people and five cars = no problem having the Protege down. But, I've been itching to drive it again since I've only driven it like 100 miles since putting on the big brakes, coilovers, and new wheels/tires. Plus, the Altima is a slushbox...
sounds sexy either way. hope it goes well man. i'd hate to have a tranny being the only thing holding me back from putting some numbers down. my hold back is money LOL.
Ok, the 'new' transmission is finally back together and in the car. Just to recap, the differences between this one from the previous one are that it has straight-cut 3rd/4th with double syncros and needle bearings, shot-peened remaining gears, beefier Kia bellhousing, 3.85 final drive, and a transmission cooler. I think that's all. Click for bigger pics.
The straight-cuts do whine a little, but turning on the radio fixes that. And, they might quiet down over time. So, we'll see.
As always Ferdi, amazing work! It sounds like this box will finally be able to handle the power. Are you using a pump to circulate the fluid?
Thanks. Yeah, let's hope it lasts. I am using a Tilton differential pump made to handle thick fluid and have it hooked up to a temperature switch so it will automatically turn on/off. But, it is one noisy sucker!
ur the man! im curious on the cooler hose routing as well..
The Tilton pump is pretty large and I ended up putting it in the most difficult to access spot I could find, lol. It's inside the fender right under where my air filter is.
