i remember when i blew a ringland on a my 88 323 b6sohc with boost, the car still ran but threw oil out of the valve cover oil breather, nice pics.

what was the current set-up prior to blowup?
whats are the plans for the car now?

WTF!?!?!?!?! First I have to say: those are some f***ed up feet. Sorry I feel better... I can honestly say I have never seen a piston come apart like that before. Crazy! That sucks big time. Best wishes.
Too bad I have AWD and you don't!

Whichever camera it is, like the high resolution images, thanks for sharing.

Instant Save As of all those pictures, I have never ever seen a piston cracked in half. It really got oil dry in can #1, Wow!

I remember when I blew 1 and 4, no fun at all.

        Good luck!

Honestly, It looks like you needed more boost. I will not be satisfied until there is a hole in the side of the block...

I live my life a quarter pounder at a time. And for those 500 calories or more, I'm free. I need FRIES! Two of them. The big ones. Oh, and I need them tonight. You're lucky the double shot of BBQ sauce didn't blow the seam on your nugget box. There she is, 2 pounds of pure beef. My dad ate it in 9.0 seconds flat. Check it out, it's like this. If I lose, winner takes my happy meal. But if I win, I take the burger and the toy. To some people, that's more important.

Or at least a rod go through the firewall...

What have you done to the engine? Any "secret" plans?

Usually from incidents like this good things happen.

it has another BP in it from my original 91 LX right now...compeltely unknow milage. over 200K expected.

a rod through the firewall sounds like death... does psiturbo want bpt323 to die

This motor might get a fresh head ported & +1mm valves thats about it tho im afraid to say. the shell on this one just doesn't give me the motivation i need to build something nice.
so im moving onto the other FE3'ed 323 bigger is better anyway

Hmmm... I see that you were possibly running lean on #1 which ate the piston on top before blowing the oil ring out. Also looks like you spun the bearing on that rod too.

                  Sorry to hear that.

Well, not to revive it from the dead yet as it is only a few months, but what happened to this block?

Is this thing back on the road? pics of progress?

I hope it did not end in the for sale sub-forums...

the motor wound up being torn down- gave the block to a friend, the head was amazing & sits waiting to be ported.

its currently running a 200k+ mile motor from my first protege years n years ago. Which appears to have recently developed headgasket leak....
