Yeah, it's the next shop over cars. The Cortina looks like it was a show car at one time, fancy two tone paint job. I wonder how easy it will be to find replacement panels if they crash it.
I think I can take it in Group 2, Escort over the Cortina...

Finally got a chance to look at these pics on a PC. Would you know if that white porche in the first pic below is a Turbo S? Holy rare car if so! And is that casey's current ride in the second pic or are there usually random escort wagons with rear spoilers (and no roof rack) parked in your lot? I'm digging the spoiler! And also voting for a cortina thread... Its allowed to run a turbo MZR with a miata trans so no reason it shouldn't have a thread on here :-)

Group 2 wouldn't have a turbo on it. I vote for a build thread on it too, just because it's such an interesting choice of car...

Nope, allthough on any given day I have them in the shop either putting cages in them, or storing them for a neighbor...

jim what size is that cell? are there any stipulations to running a cell in a street car?
It's a 15 gallon cell---I know it's not "technically" legal to run a fuel cell in a street car, allthough if you make the filler neck stock and hook up all the emissions I doubt you'd have an issue.

God only know's where he'd come up with panels---I'm guessing they'd be cheaper to reproduce in fiberglass than actually source them from europe. No offense Jon, but the Cortina's getting a 250HP 2.3 duratec from Mountune/Andy Brown's old Air Force Reserve World Challenge Ford Focus in front of a world class T5 mustang trans to a full floating Atlas rear end...I'm guessing it'll come in around 2000lbs when I'm done...He's gonna be a challenge for you to beat to say the least...hopefully with Randy's talent he should give Bill Holmes a run/grab an overall in CRS.

It is an S---good eye!!! They do get some amazing cars over there---they've had some 959's, carrera GT's, etc...today it's an GT3 RS...

My Volvo's much cooler though---anyone can race a Porsche...

Almost done with the plumbing---mounted pump/filter---created brackets and have run lines---wanted to use braided stuff on both sides, but the pump/fuel rail resisted A.N. hardware without finding stainless fittings and a tig welder...we've space the two lines apart so the braided won't have any contact---I did end up saving about $40 in line/plumbing/a little weight.

im going to have to look into it. im sure noone would know either if i put it in the stock location and then cover the bottom of the car to help with wind resistance... hmm

that looks like some nice work. Im getting lots of ideas of what i want to do to my car

any plans to run a rear swaybar? also i noticed you are still using stock mx3 rear trailing arms, why not use your tubular ones?

NO OFFENSE taken, just starting the smack talk early!! Randy is a great driver and seems to like odd cars. Hit last rally car was the converted Mirage into an EVO. I might be able to take him, when the excess power gets the better of him... :-)
The fuel system is looking great. But, before we go racing, make sure the fuel pump can be changed out in under 5 minutes, remember Thunderhill...

Definetly going to run a rear bar---haven't decided whether it's the stock location, or a speedway bar...I'll take a points hit in the class I'm going for if I run the 4 lateral links---I'm probably going to swap the trailing arm to a 3rd gen arm/and put another set of spindles on that haven't been machined. We kind of keep changing classes was going to run super touring 2 and then decided to run in performance touring (slower), but still go for the overall win.

Thanks---wondered where I bought that stuff before---I'll end up with braided---just have to convert to a nipple before the pump/fuel rail...

I would imagine he'll have some offs with the HP and learning curve. A 4x8' sheet of aluminum fits perfectly under the car---have to put a trap door or something in it to get access to that pump...We are going to tack the bolts on the inside of the car so you just need the wrench on the back...

Got the first fiberglass escort hatch from the new guy---not to bad and a bit lighter than the old carbon one. He's going to try to put carbon down on one next week and if it looks decent, I'll be able to start selling them again. This guy is local and did the hatch in 2 days for me!!!

i was looking at those sway bars. what about other nascar style bars? they seem pretty cheap to change out to a different thickness.

that hatch looks good. how was his price compared to the old producer?

Unlimited amount of choices---easy adjustability and reasonably priced bars...the hatch turned out great---and we can go even lighter if needed. The cost is a bit more for the fiberglass than before---have to see what the carbon will cost---I hope it's affordable, but not crossing my fingers...

how long until you figure out the swaybar design? only asking so that you can figure which bar and arms would work with our cars. you have the ability to test parts lol

im contemplating switching my car to more of a track car and using my moms old neon as a DD.
