I am curious, are there any toyota axles that would be shorter that will work for you a little better?

there is apparently some way to flip the inner cv joints around to make the axles shorter, but i'd really prefer to not mess with them as they are the cage and ball bearing type (the type that sucks to put back together...)

so how do you tell if an axle is binding? the car is sitting at ride height now and we rolled it around and turned the wheel etc... no funny noises...

moar pics tonight after work. all the major stuff is done... engine and trans are in, clutch linkage is hooked up, turbo is on, etc. i still need to hook up all the hoses, pipes, wires, etc.

p.s. we will not be making any mounting kits, at least not any time soon. i'd need a significant amount of interest and deposits ahead of time. unlike this project, the time spent to build jigs and the time spent making the new mounts would all be "on the clock" work.

p.p.s. - axle nuts for these axles seem to be discontinued. i can get normal nuts (non flanged, non stakeable) with the right threads, but i need some way to lock them in place.

              lock washer?
              loc tite?

              what do you guys think

snap ring? maybe drill a hole in the shaft and use a cotter pin. It would still keep it from coming loose.

to use a cotter pin effectively it would need to be a castle nut

I didn't see it listed on their online product listing, but they say they can make you anything you want...

I know they sell the plain hex nut in that size.

I peered out from the castle window and looked over the splendor of ROTM county. Yes, twas' a much simpler time back then. Peasants would go about their postings, and I, the mod, would rule over them with an iron fist.
