My KY clutch slips if I shift hard before warming it up, but once it gets hot it's solid. I gave it no break-in period at all.

i drove it all around town for hours, nice and warmed up, still slips. ive honestly tried everything and it wont hold 12 psi.

Mine holds 23 psi till redline, I had Chris rebuild a GTX spare pressure plate I had and made a 9 small puck ceramic disc. I asked him to make one to hold 400 hp based on the GTX clutch I sent him so it's prolly overkill. It grabs really hard and if I don't rev enough from a stop, the car jerks, feels like something is grabbing the engine. I'm not sure about launching this thing, it fees really agressive.

i wish mine was like that. i'd launch the **** out of it right now.

whats the best clutch out there for a bosted bp? i know use the search button, well what clutch are you thinking of getting jon?

I REALLY liked the grabbiness of my SPEC stage3 6-puck. however, I've also got an ACT clutch for an MX-6 V6 in my blue 4WD right now, and although still running the B8, the clutch is really good so far. The thing is, the pedal pressure is DEFINITELY more than even my SPEC was. But still very maneagable.

I'm thinking I might hybridize my next clutch for a boosted engine, go with the SPEC disc and the ACT PressurePlate.

sarge if you do that you have to adjust the flywheel step height. spec discs are thicker than ACT discs. i did that with an ACT HD pressure plate and a spec stage 3+ disc and it grabbed awesome.

                i will be running a 6 puck copper/ceramic and a 2200# pressure plate.

                depends on your power goals....

i think the 1800lbs is your problem. its not very heavy!

i had a custom made solid centre 5 puk plate with a 2600lb pressure plate.

remember the less puks the greater the holding power the more puks the smoother to drive

^ how does that make any sense. just because there are less pucks does not mean it will hold more power.

Jon, brake cleaner has a residue- carb cleaners(good ones) do not. i still suggest good ole' dawn dish soap & water. towel dry it & bake it @ 250 for a couple min. thats if its full of machining oil

ryan that does make sense, the amount of torque capacity can be explained by a forumula. it is dependent on clamp load in PSI, disc diameter, and coefficient of friction.

less pucks = holds more torque, drives like crap, and wears out faster.
more pucks = a little easier to drive, marginally less torque capacity, and lasts much longer.

that being said, the only options i have are 4 puck and 6 puck. i feel like 4 puck would be a bit too agressive to drive on the street so i'm staying with 6. the new clutch is in the mail, hoping to have it by friday *crosses fingers*. 2200# should be plenty darn stiff... the ACT xtreme is rated at 2500# and is listed at a 490 ft lb capacity with an ACT puck disc.

i prepped this clutch the same way i have every other clutch on every other car i've ever done (....at least 10 come to mind) and none have ever slipped except this one. i'm not saying i'm perfect, but i'm tellin you guys... ive gotten the hang of this by now.

why on earth would brake cleaner have a residue? i'm not sure i trust you on that one ryan... i dont think they would include an oily residue in something people are spraying on their damn brakes.

Jon, I went to the track last night and the clutch wouldn't hold **** when launching. Launching between 3K abd 4K rpm, I felt the pucks trying to grip but then slipping and the clutch fully slipping then. Without launching, I ran a best of 13.8 at 110 mph, couldn't get out of the box for less than 2.3. I'll call Chris today to see what's up with that...

                          yeah thats a problem lol...

i think his pressure plates are too soft.

you think? lol... instead of burning the tires, I was burning the clutch. The pp indeed is very soft, the GTR stock pp is heavier in comparison. Anyways, I'll call him today, hope he will be willing to help.

I have mine as well, I've sent him the GTX one to be rebuilt. I can always swap out his for the GTR but it's alot of work and doesn't guarantee it will clamp.
