Toyota E153 transmission swap

    I wonder if the 1986 or 1988 toyota celica (with the E153 tranny) axels would work for the swap?

      Found the answer in the 1st page I wonder If I need a wider stance ? The MX-3s supposed to be 1" wider than the BGs. I guess I will find out later

            no kits at least not right now

            at the track i pull all the passenger seats and the spare tire/jack.

            ST165 axles should work

                      hey guys nice build i have a e series toyota box in my 626 wagon with an fe3 ..... how hevey is your car ??? and have u looked at useing the fwd levin shafts my be a shorter track and the rear gearbox bracket is a lot closer to fitting and it just needed an adaptor plate .......
                      what suspention r u running

                        i'm running zx2 s/r struts (i dont think this car came to aus) with ground control coilover sleeves 300 pound front spring, 200 pound rear spring. we never got the "levin" here, so i'm not sure what that would equate to as far as US models... the alltrac front axles are working fine though that i widened the stance a little with RX7 ball joints.

                        the car gained roughly 80-90 pounds with the trans swap. it was 2550 pounds with me in it, a half tank of gas, and all the passenger seats removed.

                          the levin was a 4agze powered car fwd but dosnet mater if it is all good then it is .....

                            The US model car that equates to the levin is the Toyota Corolla GTS. These came with flip up lights. I think the year is 1991 but they never came with supercharge 4AGE engine as the other country. The Levin are also abundant in the caribbean.

                              What you are saying here is that you can use the supercharge Levin gearbox also. Is it harder to do conversion with this box since it is smaller in comparison to the E153 gearbox? I know they come with the Toyota LSD already installed and that it handles 400 hp easily.

                                from what i understand, the gearset itself is pretty much the same in the 4AGZE gearbox (we did get these, except in MR2's only). using the 3S/1MZ gearbox with the larger bellhousing worked just fine for me.
