The GT4 shafts talk to the GTR hubs without any mods. Which means they don't talk to BF hubs, but those can be swapped out easier than modding the shafts would be I bet.
'90 AWD Protege, full GTR drivetrain swap, ~320 whp daily driver, RIP, and
'90 AWD Protege, yet another GTR swap, Open class rallycar with a Toyota GT4 gearbox swap, thus crossing the line between hobby and mental illness. And a Brabus E55 K8, removing all doubt.

cool jay cheers for the quick reply.. any other hubs that work other than GTR hubs?

i'm going to be making a 2wd an awd with a hell of a lot of work
(BG body i'll be working on never had the option)

Don't know about other hubs. Corksport scored me a set of brand new ones though, you might send them an email and see if they have more or know what part crossrefs. I might have it totally wrong but 929/capella rings a bell for some reason.

When I replaced a 4wd bent front control arm with a 2wd Protege, I had to shorten it by 1/2" to make it work on the street without a TON of chamber. Might be an option for you to get some more track width, along with the RX-7 ball joints, would give you about 1".

We only needed 20mm. Do those arms bolt up the same, with their own cutle lil subframe and all? I need to get at least another set of arms to mod ot the same length as spares still.
Yesterday we finished getting the propshaft in. It ain't going anywhere. We finished the front suspension (still haven't relocated the lower strutmount bolts but we might not need to), put the wheels on, and got it off the lift and rolled around a bit. We're getting closer...

Hopefully that means you and will be competing at Mt. Hood for Mazda contingency money!

I won't make OTR. I'm hoping for Wild West as long as it doesn't get canceled again. And I will make Mt. Hood if I can get everything updated in time.

Ahh sorry i havent been on here in a little while Jay,

I came across exactly the same problems as what youve been through in the last few pages.

Believe me it does pay off in the end

Good to hear cuz if I'd known beforehand how much of a b!tch this was gonna be I never woulda started. I just got word that the next rally uses many of the stages that are on my fave list, tight and technical, where my power disadvantage goes away and where most of our overall stage wins are. I hope to hell we haven't screwed up the handling. Cuz the new engine is built such that we're just gonna turn the boost up till the restrictor is doing the wastegate's job, pretty much

As for using 2wd front arms on the 4wd chassis, they did bolt on. Just had to use the 4wd metal bracket on the rear bushings. I drove the car around for months, leaving it long, lots of tire wear, but handling was great.

Did the 4WD tie rod ends adjust out enough to fix the toe? I've been wondering about FWD LCA's for awhile. I wonder then, if Jim Pierce's LCA's will end up being nice one-size-fits-all units...

Progress! We had some driveline bind that panicked me when we put the car on the ground and rolled it, thought there was something wrong with the gearbox. All it was was a F-ed up CV joint. Big deal, we can replace that. But the real big deal is, we've got the turbo in the car. It's on the GTR manny, we don't need a spacer 'tween the manifold and the block, we even get to re-use the plumbing from the coldside to the IC, and after we revise the lower mounts, it'll even clear the radiator. All we need to do is redesign the lower front trans mount. Compared to making a new exhaust manifold like we thought we were gonna have to do, just ain't no thang. I'm starting to think we'll make next rally after all!
