Blacky's now Pinky's twin after some paint---The backup car (this car) is going to be set up for tarmac/track days and then can be converted to the rally suspension and aligned to run...Car may also be available to rent if anyone is interested.

Oh-Blacky made 120.83HP and 112.05FPT at the wheels on the dyno yesterday. It is completely stock except for the free flow exhaust and the made 10 less HP with the stock ECU (it currently has Haltech E6X). So the aftermarket management/exhaust on a stock engine is good for about 10HP...

It was about a 60-65K mile engine when it was in Pinky. Should be enough HP for Chuck to have fun with.

The cage looks amazing, never thought in a million years to see an Escort/Tracer with such mods, great work!

Even though Blacky's primary job is to be a back up/rental rally car for Chuck, it'll also from time to time find itself at the track. Here it is set up in it's roadrace stance with---Modified Chevy Camaro adjustable front struts, RX7 camber plates, and Tockiko Blue rears---amazing what'll fit it you don't mind a little fab work...

Blacky also gets a turning brake like Pinky and then also one of the fine carbon fiber hatch/hood combo's with stainless hoodpins (broke one of the aluminum sparco hood pins once). We're going to the pins on the rear hatch as well...as soon as I figure out how to mount them...cleanly...

I think I first heard of these being used on a Toyota rallycar---the Camaro's have front struts with a much heavier spring than the corolla/escorts, so the valving for a stiffer roadrace/rally setup would be closer. The lengths we're slightly longer to increase wheel travel on the rally car, or when used in conjunction with a camber plate allow for the car to be lowered a reasonable amount for a track car...they're also 5 way adjustable.

The can size is a larger diameter so a larger diameter spring is needed than usual, reducing clearance at the wheel. Also the mounting points/clevis isn't close so a fair amount of fabwork needs to be done to make them fit. The shaft diameter is not correct either so they wont fit into the stock uppers with out machine work. Basically have to cut and fab them in---not worth it in my opinion.

KSPORT's are about all I know of that are easy/cheap---everything else is a couple grand or more...I've been doing the Koni race inserts on a few different cars as of late---the 8611's are double adjustables and they have an insert that's close to the escort housing...there's always the Koni Reds as well.

We've got about 80-100 race hours on them and they are still holding up well. No leaks, and minimal play---the bearing in one of the rear pillowball mounts was making some noise that took a while to figure out and then mysteriously went away after we took it apart. I've got a set of their roadrace dampners to try on my own car if I ever get time to finish it...
