Thanks, I think...it's an Ebay kit---didn't have to weld a pipe, which is what the customer's budget preferred.

No, unfortunately it's not my car and I'm not getting paid to do the full deal---I'd of acid dipped the whole shell (or started with a different shell) if it was up to me, there's a bunch of rust on it---but Chuck will probably do a lot of it himself---he did an Integra Type R that was pretty bad and it turned out OK/livable.

That Integra had rust, looked brand new when I saw it... Shockingly, that Protege is one of the better examples of an AWD shell. Chuck will do a good job taking care of all the rust, I'm sure.

Got it running today---fired it with the N/A Ecu and it fired right up---wouldn't idle super well. Swapped in the Turbo Ecu and loosened up the distributor and it was idling/reving perfect. Got the exhaust done---high flow rally cat-2 1/2" piping all the way-glasspack style resonator into a magnaflow---sounds deep/on the quiet side.

Got all the brake rotors/pads/flush done as well. Hopefully bolt a seat/some belts in tomorrow and go for a ride.

Anyone know if the instrument cluster needs to be grounded in order to work??? We sat one in there, popped in all the plugs in the back and expected to have a tach/temps etc.. and got nothing. We've done this before in the escorts and they work perfectly without a ground/in your hands...

Yeah no kidding---he bought the motor/trans/ecu/rotors/pads/adjustable cam gears for $600 from a guy in the desert---in other words they were basically free!

Any plans for the brake lines?

Your exhaust work looks top notch. Any chance you could toss another pic or two up of all that busy stuff right out of the engine?

Props for the work. I especially like your welding and fab It's going to be a fun ride when your done.

I suppose I could have sold him brake lines---not really needed for this appl/car---it's nice sometimes to have a rubber line---you can use vice grips and still make it home if you rip one off...Thanks for the props---it's been a learning experience for sure---are normal builds are gut it/cage it/put suspension on and get it to the track/testing---I've never left AC and all the ducting under dash stuff in before!

Welcome to my world... The only car I've built without ducts and what not under the dash was my Baja Bug. You know you're jealous of my rally Escort with A/C, cruise control and still in open class 2wd.

Damn, that just makes me smile. I wish I could hurry up and finish my cam change in my AE86, I wanna get workin' on my protege!!!

And you definitely don't need the whole cluster grounded...

That was an in-car pic on the interstate on the way back from Montana with the car. We didn't get the fuel gauge hooked up right somehow, so we disconnected it. still haven't really looked into that yet, lol!

Couple photo's of the engine bay---it's not my thing/not getting paid to make it pretty---I see some of your guys cars on here, Jinx's comes to mind, and I wish we we're allowed to do that kind of work (or just hire Jinx/one of you guys to come in and clean it up).
