    Dante's 1990 4WD Protege work log.

    After wanting to get another 1st gen for the last couple years I finally found one on Craigslist for $300, the car had a blown head gasket and the guy just wanted to get it out of his driveway so I arranged a time to go check it out and after getting there I found out the car was a 4WD and stick! (I thought it was a DX originally) so I towed it home and began tearing it down to do a DOHC swap....
    Day I picked it up

    Unfortunately I ran out of work at my job
    So the car has just been sitting for the last couple months but I found another job + got my tax returns so the project is starting back up, I picked up a low mileage BP so I'm just waiting for it to get here now, also grabbed a B code from an RX-7 still got a few more parts to pick up...
    B code got here today...

    The BP should be getting here tomorrow so hopefully weather permitting I can get it cleaned up and start working on the car again this weekend.

          You know what else you need a GTR Transmission and transaxle for this project :0)

          and what do you know I just seem to have one I need to sell ... LOL

            Couldn't agree more, I got there thinking it was a DX and when we were walking around to where the car was the guy was like "oh yeah by the way, it's 4wd,
            I never remembered Mazda making a 4wd protege" so I was like its stick too!? And he was like yup and I was like seriously your sure it's a 4wd!? And he's like yup has the lock button on the dash too and it works! So I offered him more money and told him how rare it was he was like nah I just want it out of my driveway!

              I wish! Ive actually been looking at it the last week or so I just have a " get it running and on the road only budget" lol otherwise it would have gotten a GTX/GTR swap hopefully I can get all the go fast goodies soon I'm just excited to drive a 1st gen again either it's been a long time. I may check back in with ya if it doesn't sell soon tho

              I've heard you can get the fog light grills? Is that true/still possible? If so I may pick one up eventually once I get more funds

                    @bogaut the round jdm style what else can u get? Bumpers and garnishes etc? If so I will definitely be talking to you once I have some money saved!

                            Yeah there was water in the plugs so I cleaned that out everything looks clean under the valve cover though
