Alright, i'm going to have to do something about this car in the next few months. The BP runs fine. For NOW, at least. The head is pretty well trashed, and it burns oil because of this. The motor has good power, but i don't trust it. It's covered a good 265k miles, and i don't want to see if it'll make it through another winter.
If i'm going to dump another BP in it, i may as well make a step up.
So...
FE3 vs. KLDE/KLZE. Go!
Talking points are:
1) Which is an easier swap? I live in an apartment, so garage time is a bit limited. (Include transmission talking points, and wiring/ECU crap)
2) Which is cheaper?
3) Which is easier/cheaper to source parts for and maintain later down the road (For this point, assume KLZE, i know KLDE parts are easy and cheap to get). Maintainence AND performance later.
I'm not real worried about the starting performance. I'm pretty sure that either will be ok by us.
If i had the time or the money, i'd rebuild the BP to my specs, but i have neither the time, nor the money it would cost, so i'd rather just dump a stronger stock motor in there.
