All I can say about the hood and mirrors is maybe the guy he bought it from was trying to make it the ultimate in protege rice but got lost and didn't know where to look for the best performance parts and gave up and bought a honda.

Do a carfax on the vin. That's about the only way to fully find out if it is a lx or dx. I say its a lx.

if it's an lx, why did they take the time to swap the mirrors out? I can't imagine someone or something would break both mirrors....maybe the prev owner liked black mirrors? head scratching time... VIN. don't bother with carfax, protegefaq.net has the breakdown of how to read it.

it has the code for a 1.8 liter DOHC engine. LX it is.

Do you see yourself in a clean, crisp sleeper that's lowered with nicer paint job, or do you see yourself in something with an outstanding kit that people don't see often? (like mine lol!).

good mentality for the car! just fix up the little things, lower it, maybe add the front lip and side skirts and voila! then have some fun under the hood. Thats why i liked my Protege so much, it was simple and clean.
