My dad and I pulled the head off today. Left the turbo/manifold in place and took the intake manifold out with it...was quick, 1.5 hours including rethreading the turbo manifold studs and stud holes in the head, sanding the block and the head surfaces, and etc.

#3 cylinder is a little rough but should hone just fine. #4 is fine. Odd thing is, #2 on the head has 2 imperfections on the edge, it doesn't look melted, just looks like 2 chunks were taken out. The piston looks fine, no signs of melting or impacts...I'm confused on that one but it held compression fine and will seal just fine too. Maybe a manufacturing error?

So now it's time to order pistons, rods, rod bearings, head gasket, valve cover gasket, cam seals, timing belt, oil pan seals, need a fan switch sensor(broke), and a few other misc things.

Looks like I'll go with ETD rods and Wiseco pistons...but I'm confused on the pistons once again. Are they 83mm? I thought they were 84mm but the ones I've found say 0.20 or 0.40 overbore. So what am I supposed to do if I'm not going to bore out my block?

guess it depends which c city you're at. there's one in cali that still had so many tv's and laptops that they sent half their inventory to the other 5+ stores in Cali, lol.

I'm waiting for near end of this week when they start selling defective yet new items. 99% have their warranties that cover the damages, so they're easy fixes (or just send 'em in lol).

For right now, the pods and false walls will be painted to match the exterior of the car (the previous owner threw in the paint for free and it didn't reach pot life limit yet). But later on they're gettin' wrapped in leather as well as the rest of the interior of the car.

I'm just making the pods to accomodate the space behind the tail light assembly and doing false floor and walls to keep at least some space in the trunk so the car looks mostly stock.
Lets see some pics of what you're starting with?

"I'm just making the pods to accomodate the space behind the tail light assembly "

Huh? Why? Behind the tail light assembly? Pods typically are located close to listener, not in the boot/trunk. Explain. Pics are always good.

        Where in LA are you?

Pix i'll put up when i get home from work. I used to live in little tokyo in those craptastic appts. on Alameda st. near the little tokyo square.
Now i'm over in Highland til i finish up with my degree.

The reasons the pods will be behind the tail light assembly is because that's pretty much the best place to put them in terms of square footage of airspace needed per sub and enclosure and also the place that loses the least functionality overall.

It'll probably start making more sense when i post up pix tonight.

Well i guess this is less of what i did to my BG and more if what it did to me.

Was wrenchin on the plumbing and in a tight spot and ended up snaping a bolt off and punching my tranny full force with my left hand. And now i think its broken.

So today, my BG broke my hand. I think.

well I decided a couple things,

1st off Im going to sell my 99 volvo xc70. we aquired some debt while my unemployment through december, and I cannot see driving a car that could almost cash us out of our debt while we have to do fully synthetic oil changes and supreme fuel at a measly 17-18mgp while we have this debt looming.

2nd Im making my green car the replacement Im taking the turbo off and just replacing the motor with a stocker to keep it reliable, we are taking some of our tax return and picking up a junkyard motor, I am going to go through the whole thing and freshin it up before putting it in.

3rd I think I got a stomach bug, I have been sick all day so this weekend could SUCK for getting this stuff done.

Almost totalled small car tonight. Many thanks to the person who came up with the adage "look where you want to go" for keeping me from taking an unwanted trip to the hospital, and to the dumb luck that made it reflex.

When people say pods I think components, and false floors I typically associate with subs...way too conditioned I've become. I'm well versed in mobile fidelity all the same.

The pods are for the 10" component subwoofers. the false floors and walls are to accomodate integration of the cap, amp, tv, and snes.
