I might see if I can do the swap on a 1998
Will the axles be the same length? Anyone know?

it'll drop right into a '98 wagon. The grommet through the firewall is bigger on the Fords than the Mazdas, for the harness going to the ECU. under-dash wiring is slightly different as well, but that's relatively simple if you do it right.

Cool part about the '98, you have a bigger front swaybar, and you've got the larger-ball-joint sockets, so you can use the RX7 balljoints which can give you a bit of extra track width if you want it. Better looking rear windows, they're more flush to the body than my '95, and a round gas door instead of square.

      I say do it!!

I know there was something special about the 97 SPI engines, so that would make sense.

yeah, i remember something about that now as well. running another line and using a different sender unit in the tank is all that's really needed, though. I'd still do it, especially since I (personally) want to run some bigger supply lines to my rail anyways. Might as well do a return at the same time, some $$$ braided, or just some metal lines that are easy enogh to make/use flares with...
