Thanks! I'd rather carry a few sockets, rather two sets of 1/2 and 3/8 sockets! Hopefully saturday when I get off call I'd run get my cordless impact and run to the jy.

Sway bars, milli alt and a ps fender if any bg's arrive. Then order the delrin rod, sub frame poly bushings and v-belt pulley.

Lol, I carry a full took kit at all times in the winter beater. It worked out well when I stopped by a junk yard 2 hrs away randomly the other day.

I really need to start a work log for mine. I installed my new GTR bumper, put on one of my RPF1s (waiting on lug nuts), installed my JP FSTB, and tried to install my new rad. I had to cut the outlet off, so it can be welded in a different spot to clear my intercooler pipes. I'll have it welded tomorrow, as aluminum is scary.

Ditto, I have a "BG break down kit" as well as a tool kit. Saved my ass a few times...but I agree worklog for the Familia!!

Was your old rad modified for the intercooler pipes? I have an idea how it's interfering lol, it's the reason I had to make my outlet out of pie-cuts so it'd clear everything.

I have a full tool box in my car, but i'd rather not have to lug it around in the jy, esp if imma have the heavy impact with me as well, and they only have those clumsy single wheel barrels, so they like to tip over.

Now, if i could just drive my car through the jy, that would be a different story.

Yeah, the old rad was modified, I just didn't realize it until today.

If that was allowed, there would be many a time when I, "didn't see anything I wanted".

I wouldn't want to drive my car through any junk yards. I'd be afraid of getting a flat tire from driving over something I might not be able to see. (Our local junkyards are very messy, and there's junk everywhere.)

The PAP in Winston-Salem, NC is very clean, organized and sanitary, besides people leaving doors open when it rains. They have plenty of gravel and all the cars are off the ground supported by steel wheels. Even on rainy days its workable and shouldn't get too muddy. And they have set prices. And you can check there inventory online before you go. Pretty awesome.

Its not like 109 U Pull It where the cars are 6 inch in red mud.

Heh, all but one or two of the junkyards around me only keep stuff from the last 10 years or so. I haven't seen a BG in a yard in about that long. Also about a third of the yards shut down back when the scrap price spiked the first time. Might have been 2006. They sold everything and went out of business.

Sounds like I need to allow an extra day next time I go to Winston-Salem.

I've had a stubborn cooling problem for a month or more. I replaced most of the hard, brittle, leaky hoses that were probably original. When I filled the system and purged the air it was fine. But then the coolant disappeared and the heat spiked again. At idle and for maybe 15 seconds after I turn the engine off, the coolant in the reservoir will boil.

I believe I have a water to combustion head gasket leak.

The vapor from the boiling overflow tank smells like combustion vapor, and the exhaust has a vaguely sweet smell. I don't see white smoke, but then I have a lot of exhaust leaks too, so it might be dissipated enough to be invisible.

                              Could this be anything else?

And if not, what else should I do while I have the head off?
