Nice. Can you describe the hood opening experience?

It opens pretty moderately, nothing too crazy. But they were struts for a hatch that's a lot heavier than my hood so I close it fairly slow. Shouldn't be a problem though because I mounted them directly to the hinge. I had one but it kinda was floppy in the wind so I went ahead and did the other side

Does it open on its own after a certain angle? If so, how high does it have to be for the struts to take over?

Yeah. Looks like it wouldn't close flush with the hood mount.

Thanks for the idea. Imma pull those mounts and make a bracket like the one that came in Bo's kit. This should be a lot cheaper.

                  Edit: crz or crv hatch?

edit edit: escort sedan or wagon?

3dr, 5dr or Wagon. Those little mounts will not be on a sedan. Any second gen with a hatch instead of a trunk, or third gen wagon.

My hood has always been a little tweaked so its impossible to tell for me. but it doesn't have any clearance issues.
CR-Z Hatch, not gonna find those in a junkyard. lol and I believe it was a sedan but like I said, it's been a while since I pulled them so I could be wrong. I know it was trunk struts that I got the mounts from though.

The Sedan is the only bodystyle I've never owned of ALL the BG's in america (except 323) but I'm fairly positive they do not have trunk struts.

Maybe it was a mystique/contour. They look similar.

That looks similar, but it's gotta be long enough to bite into the metal below the fender. You're going to drill through the fender into the unibody below and it threads into the actual unibody not the fender. The ones I used seem to be perfect for the hinge and the fender

any reason why the wagon hatch struts wouldn't work? how long are your struts when compressed and at full length? Time to do some measuring.

                            And thanks for the info

Replaced both inner tie rods on the mx3 tonight. The front end feels even worse. I'm parting the car out as soon as I get the protege going again.

If it feels worse after, then it's probably miss aligned. What issues were you having before replacing them?
