put new Falkens on the front of the ZX2 yesterday. so long sketchy handling in the rain / vibration at 80.

just went out to the garage to try and sort out the lazy throttle response- no cracks or holes that I could find in the PCV elbow or any of the vacuum lines, but there was a bit of slack in the throttle cable. I'm not sure how much is considered normal, or if I accidentally screwed it up while doing something else (VC gasket maybe), but I took as much slack as I could out and took it for a test drive. the car feels a ton better now, gonna see how it is for a few days- hopefully my gas mileage comes back.

edit: also ordered one of those Gold Coast timing belt idler guide pulleys- the belt is starting to walk, so at some point I'll re-do everything (with a new tensioner and belt) and add the UDP/ODP I picked up.

also I feel like the upper nut or whatever on one or several of my pillow ball jams is loose, getting a slight clunk sometimes (that sounds exactly the same as when the upper nut came loose on my buddy's track car) and a nasty one if I hit a bump turning hard left at any speed- that one sounds a lot like exhaust hitting subframe, but the exhaust isn't moving enough to do it. I gotta empty out the trunk and take out the rear parcel shelf, I'll use a GoPro or some **** to see if/where something is moving that shouldn't be.

I have the same clunking issue with my zx2, but I don't have pillow ball mounts. How noticeable is it? Mine isn't very bad at all. I'm guessing it's the exhaust hitting.

the pillow ball clunk isn't bad, it's like a light click, the other noise is pretty ****in horrible. no way the exhaust is hitting, I've got clamps on the rear-most four hangers and the exhaust can't move enough to contact the subframe, so it's gotta be something else.

are your camber plate bearings still good or is it just free play from the nut being loose?
with K sports do they have much contacting thread to the strut? i know that was an uncomfortable issue with the cuscos.

I have a feeling it's just that the nut is loose- given that these only have ~10K on them, I would hope that it's nothing more than that. also, the noise is coming from the rear of the car, so I'd be surprised if it was camber plate bearings.

as for the amount of contacting thread, I have no idea, I'd have to look.

Met up with Graham (Mazdanoob) to hang out and pull some parts from his old Protege. Had some good times, and got a good buzz (found a wasps nest in the right front strut tower lol)

Me all lathered up in ointment LOL
