I am going to guess they may just need adjustment. Do they get quieter after the engine warms up?

not that I've noticed. should they?

I feel like this is something I'd rather pay someone to do so it gets done right.

Just curious if they do. I was thinking they would possibly tighten up a little as they warmed.

I dont remember the Zetec I dealt with before being noisy, but that engine had around 80K miles on it. Shim over bucket is a pain since you have to remove the cams to change the shims and then reinstall and measure again. If they are still not correct for some reason, then out come the cams again, oh and shims start to get expensive if you have to get very many of them.

          ughhhhhhhhhhh

it's not super loud, just sounds like lifter tick- maybe normal for almost 160k? I guess I should just keep an eye on it for now, there's a shop by my parents' that I trust that I could take the car to in the spring when the 240 is on the street.

Actually, they aren't shim under bucket style if the car is 2000 or newer. They are solid tappets and if it's out of spec, you need to get thicker (or thinner, but I'd think it would be thicker. lol) lifters. And at a price or around $20 msrp a piece, it can get very expensive...

            Edit:

I just found some for 13.36 each at tasca ford parts.

Oh good. So I'd be looking at a max of like $220ish plus whatever labor since I sure as **** don't want to do this...

I've decided that my car is a girl, she's picky as hell, won't listen to me, always wants to fight me, and when i give her presents it's never good enough and she always wants more.

Put the headliner back in to make another template for the part missing due to removing the automatic belts, bent the **** out of it. Going to have to reinforce it when it comes back out as it is very unhappy looking at present.

Also drivers side output shaft it leaking like a sieve, going to have to replace that this weekend. On the bright side it looks like my engine oil leak has stopped after I re-torqued all the oil-pan bolts during the last oil change. Still burning it via combustion though.

Fixed some nagging config issues in the rallycar. For whatever reason it was maxing out 18-20psi. Found and fixed the multiple problems and now we have 4psi at 1800rpm 15 by 2300 and 27 at 3500 to redline. Thaaaaaat's more like it. Once we get it well and truly dialed in we'll put antilag on a dash switch and have 20 at idle...
