      Success!

Car runs better than it has in some time. I haven't looked at the valve cover since curing, but I'm sure it will be an improvement too. Maybe I can get a pic in daylight and post it up.

Dual stage thermostats are the way to go if you can find new ones. Better thermal stability.

Awesome that the car is running better now!! I also agree on the dual stage thermostats, they're nice to have!

I ran my race car around my grandpa's property a few times yesterday. It felt nice being able to drive it. I have been stressed a lot the last few days, and bringing that car up to it's redline sure does make the stress melt away!

Got my AC working today! It's been a couple of years, and last time it kept freezing over. Now it works properly.

'90 323: Haven't driven it since January some time.

Friday night: jacked the front up, changed the oil and filter.

              Saturday night:
-replaced the front rotors and front pads, flushed the brake system.
-replaced the exhaust flex-joint. found out that the resonator is rusted out on the backside seam, so it just moved the loud exhaust back five feet, lol!

              Sunday:
Drove it to MIS (Madison International Speedway,) mounted some 160/55/13 Hankook Ventus C90-compound slicks, and proceeded to autoX the crap out of the car. did pretty good too, 2nd place in the C-Race class (when the car is technically H-Modified at most).

Struts are tired and basically done. Springs are fairly fatiqued as well, lol. Rear swaybar endlinks have basically no bushings left in them. The slicks stuck good enough to make the car roll far enough down to rub the plastic inner fender on the outside shoulder of the tires, lol!

Fun car, though. Exhaust needs to be fixed ASAP though, it got way way worse during the course of the day, to the point where it's now almost a straight exhaust dumping right behind the front passenger seat. Can't even hear the radio when driving. Maybe I'll finally put the Pacesetter exhaust on it that's been sitting around for a few years, lol!

Hit those stupid hatch corners (by the tails) with a hammer after one dropped on my head. ****ing MX3s.

                  Changed the oil, too.

Thanks! It sure is a fun, reliable (so far) DD. I don't know what I'll do when I break the drivetrain, so I try not to think about it too much.

been doing some serious thinking the last couple of weeks with the bpt vs. klze swap, and I think for now I may just start collection turbo bits. Its been too many used kl spun rod bearing stories for me. Imma use my b8 short block and do the bpt top end treatment, engine harness, tapped oil pan, etc. I guess ill start collecting parts slowly and prepare for boost.

Fyi, about how much power loss with with the lower compression b8 pistons vs the bp?

Fyi, no, im not putting bp pistons in my block. I'm using my bottom end bc I know its legit.

I'm not looking for major hp, just 200-225. Get around town reliable scooter.

You sure the B8 cast crank will hold that power? Just asking.

                              it's 225hp, that's nothing.

run more boost to make up for less compression.

don't use a chicken**** VJ turbo.

what the **** is a "bpt top end treatment"? throw a BP05 head on a B8 bottom end, use a T3 or CT26 (guess what, with an adapter plate for a GTX manifold the twin-scroll CT26/20B would be AWESOME on a BP), add a decent clutch, done. for that power you don't need BP26 cams or a GTR intake manifold.
