The front swaybar on the Protege runs over the crossmember, there's NO way to get it out without dropping the crossmember unless you plan on hacking it up with a sawzall

Replacing the sway bar frame mount bushings alone could be a pita. There's very little room to work in there...

They're not half as hard as replacing the front swaybar IMO, they're a PITA to reach but if you lube them up enough they're not that bad.

i actually just did my frost swaybar today. here is some detail

went to junk yard to get new swaybar ( mine was broke dont know why )

to get it out was failrly simple at the junk yard you can just drop the struts, dissconect the 4 bolts under the car that holds the arm thingys on stick a bar inbetween the arm, and the frame and push down it will give you enuff room to wiggle the bar out.. putting it in is a lil more dificult ... i had 2 others to help and the sun was just about down.

we took out the 4 bolts on the arm, ( but i think we only needed to remove 1 the long one ) but we took out all 4 to be safe then we pushed down on both arms, and just wiggled it in. we had to jack the car up fairly high to get enuff play on the side we was entering from, because we could not get the far side of the bar up high enuff it was hitting the ground. but after 3hours of FN around with it, it was in and i started to place back on all the bolts. i took my camra for pics but i left the lense open and batterys was dead and with the dieing sunlight the batterys was not on the top of the to do list.

it was and is a pain but can be done fairly easy with 3 people. it was our first time doing a sway bar . i hope this one dosent break but i did go to autozone and ger the polly bushings. rides much better. sway bar was broke when i got the car and didnt see it till we added the arospeed coilovers.

vps for the frame bushing that hold the bar onto the arm things.... turn the wheels it will give you enuff room to use a rachet or ( air rachet )

you do realize that you spent alot more time F'ing around and wiggling the bar into place than it would have been to remove the whole front assembly and nicely put the new bar in place?

have a jack and 2 guys... save on the third lift it into place and attach it to the struts... work from there.

I swapped mine this weekend, i have a Whiteline front bar now. I already have the engine and box out the car, so it was nice and easy just to drop the subframe / lower wishbones off, swap the bar and fit it back on the car...

Does anybody have a pic of a 2wd front swaybar preferably off the car or a good clear pic on the car? I want to know if the GTR front sway bar will fit a 2wd car, as I have 2 of them sitting in the garage now. GTR front bar is 23mm, rear is 19.1mm hollow.

I found a ZX2 bar for $25, YaY! Now I'm gotta wait till I drop the motor to install it.

What about the ZX2 rear bar, will it fit, and is it any larger?

since you have the car, you'd know best, but i was always told the rear was 23mm.

you should explain the difference between what a hollow bar does in comparison to a solid bar..... just so everyone else is aware.
