Attempting to tune my engine has consumed my life lately, for the past month or more ive been trying in vain to get this thing right. ...I have tried everything i can possible think of but the BP still runs like ****. So im starting to think less that the electronics are wrong but that the mechanics are wrong. Ive checked alot of the mechanics but im starting to think a leaking head gasket could be a real possibility. I have a vaccum gauge and the haynes manual says the bp should idle at 17-22hg..yet mine keeps at about 10. Meaning there has to be a vaccum leak somewhere and i have checked anything intake about 50 thousand times. Thoughts of ripping the whole damn engine out and re doing the whole thing have entered my head. Unfortunately this mean all turbo progress has been put on hold. Im spending all my money now on new parts. Im going to replace just about everything... On top of whatever problem there is the fuel pump doesnt want to turn on by its self now. I have to manual turn it on through the relay...whatever is causing that is beyond me. Im sick of this crap im about to give up on that oh so wonderful BP dream.

PS: How the heck did u manage to clean up a used tranny like that? It looks brand spanking new. Also, if you can send me a video of the engine idling and also of it running when the problems show up (w/e they are), it make diagnosis much easier. You are welcome the upload the video to the guest section in of my gallery (click sig for link). My sephia with 104K mi came with a BP.. so i'm kinda used to the engine...

There are no CEL's other than the rear O2 sensor. ( I havent had one put in) But the rear isnt involved that greatly with Engine Management. I dont have access to a digital video camera as of now but ill explain to you what happens.I start the engine at it idles at about 1500. (If i tune it any lower it cuts off) very shortly after that the RPMS start to jump up and down from about 1700 to 1300 and as that happens my air/fuel gauge goes from rich to lean and that keeps happening until the throttle is pressed. Even though its at 1500 the idle is really lumpy, it sounds like a damn drag car or something. What confuses me is when i unplug my TPS the idle gets real smooth and the Rpms dont bounce. On top of that the air/fuel gauge stays still as stoich... but if i drive it with the tps off the car stalls whenever the i let off the gas completely. SO for some reason it seems like the TPS is causing the problem..but ive tested it and it is in good shape. Im clueless to why it does this......
My next problem is the fuel pump wont turn on by its self. I have to manual turn it on. Unfortunately this means it wont cut off by its self either which means no fuel cut : (. Ive looked at the ECU and i dont see anything burnt or fried but i can think of anything else that could be causing it to do this. Ive checked the fuel pump relay to..it works fine. Basicly i have to ground the relay by hand because for some reason the ECU or something isnt grounding it by itself.sigpic

Originally posted by OCD-SPEED View Post*Sigh* yet another problem. My 02 sensors are fixed but the idle is still fubar. Why? The TPS! It is in working order but i found out in order for it to run right it has to be tunned electronically with a dealer tool : (. Damnit i hate dealers. Guess ill have to drop an ass load

lulz at doing everything but a compression test. and buying turbo parts before you manage to get the engine to idle.
