I spoke to a distributor today. First I need to take back all the **** I said about Corollas. He said they sell good. Sentras and Mirages he laughed at. He said a manufacturer will probably spend around 30,000 for the mold. Then sell them for around 50 bucks each. That would come out to around 600 units to break even assuming his numbers are correct. And assuming they are correct I easily see a company selling more than 600 units when there's over 100 people on internet forums after two weeks. Not all protege owners are on internet forums and don't forget the market isn't just North America. He also said to not be surprised if Sonar and/or TYC makes them. They've been looking into the protege aftermarket scene. To be continued......

i'm getting in on this kind of late. but since i'm gonna end up keeping my protege and the 323... i'd love to get a set. like others have said, granted they dont cost some outrageous price.

Be careful with that though... Intruder's right. I signed up for the list because I'm interested in the possibility, but I won't have the money for quite a while, and from the example pictures they're looking at the 99/00 models first anyway, which won't fit my car. I'm sure there are more people on the list in my boat, signing up because they're interested someday. If they spend 30k on a mold, it'll take a while for them to make their money back. And if they want to cater to everyone on this list, they'll need two molds... one for 99/00 and one for 01+.
