Economy is slow my butt - the place I went to on Friday was booked solid for the next 2 months. I have an appointment monday morning at another shop closer by, and I have 2 others lined up if that one won't pan out. The new suspension is already here, as are the 740cc injectors, so I'm as eager as anyone to get this show on the road.

considering all the steps that are needed to be taken, 6 months doesnt take too long to burn through.

I got a confirmation today from a local speed shop, the gearbox will be dropped off there by Friday.

FWIW, typical cost of a shop to install the LSD is $250-350 if you bring them the transmission & parts.

Gearbox & LSD dropped off today, pick-up scheduled for Friday morning. If it all goes well I'll have the tranny installed on Saturday, along with the new suspension and injectors.

As of right now, March 8th or 9th are both open days (weather permitting) at the raceway so both of those dates look good for me in terms of testing the LSD with factory gear ratios and the 3.85 final drive.

Serious question though, I also pay somebody to do my trans re-builds as well, even though I can do it myself...why do you pay somebody?

I don't have the toolset to check bearing preload, and I didn't want to take any chances with the install since the bearings will be replaced (and I don't have any room in the shop to get a press in there to boot). I'm paying a little out of pocket for it, but I feel that if it's the trial of the prototype, I need to eliminate all install errors from the get go so we can get an accurate read on the product's performance.
