I didnt realise that this was still happening...I could still use a set, and now that I know, I'll stop looking for other ones....

Mid year will work out pretty well, as I doubt whether I will be in a position to build my motor before then, probably more like christmas time.

I feel slightly bloated and tired but otherwise good, thanks for asking man

Okay done a tiny peice of research, from what i see to acheive the same amount of strength between the I and H beam the H beam is required to be considerably heavier (almost double the mass) effecting how the motor will rev. so i would suggest I beam personally but as i said thats from very minor research ive done of other peoples calculations.

EDIT: Kept researching and everything i find seems to back up what i said before - Also might pay to have a word to scat and see what the cost difference will be as I beams tend to cost more than H beams /EDIT

H beams are resistant to "twisting" but thats usually not a force thats encountered unless the rod fails & bends to begin with.
Ideally an I beam is "LIKE an H beam turned 90°"

im tired- gnite for now give more input please people!!!

what about X beam? arent those pretty strong?

i know each brand is different.. but here is some food for thought..

pauter's X beam rod is capable of 250 horsepower per rod..

where as say eagles H beam is only capable of 150 hp per rod..

but then there is corillo's H beam and its capable of well over 200 hp ... they say, " you will break something else before you break this rod.."

and corrilo's I beam is capable of 200 horsepower per rod.

there is a lot to do with the type of steel used.. i think thats the most important element in the strength. then comes the design.

please remember not all companies are setup to produce "+/X" beams within reason of keeping this affordable to us. I've emailed accordingly & im waiting for a response back to see cost & option for "+/x" beams.

H beams are so popular also because they are not the same design as stock, people get the idea that anything different than stock must be better so H beam must be better than I beam.

I spoke to my engine rebuilder today he said H beam, then i showed him what i hadbeen reading and he changed his mind saying that even for the weight differences it was worth it.

He also mentioned that Scat rods are chinese... FAILS lol however he did suggest that if we were definatly going with Scat that we should try and get them direct from the factory rather than a middle man in the states.

Any chance of a price comparison between I and H?

my vote is for H. heavier yes, the the strength increase is where i care the most. would love to have a set of X rod's though. im running pauter X rods in my f2t already anyways.
