what rod bearings are meant to be used with these rods?

      mazda/kia95 or kia?

rod bearings between mazda/kia are the same

your thinking about the MAIN bearings, which are different

Main bearings are the same, somewhat... trimetal and such.
          Rod bearings are different.

          CB-1455AL - Kia 1995-2002
          CB-1362AL - Mazda / Kia 1995-1995

The tangs differ, and possibly the oil hole. On pics i cant see any holes or grooves on the 1455.
(If anyone has a 1455 please clarify oil holes / grooves, and maybe take a pic.)

My vote would go to CB1362, unless someone has any other information that says that 1455 would be better.

Maybe you can ask if its possible to make the rod accept both bearings? Without sacrificing anything.

heres a comparison between Kia & mazda

as you can see the tang's are in the same location. a minor difference of a smoother transition with the kia bearing.

well, everybody can't be happy go lucky..

I'm in the process of buying some parts and i would like to know which bearings i should buy. All my other engines use 1362 bearings..

the bearings on the pics are 1455, so if the rods are made on sportage/doch specs 1455 will be the correct bearing, if its based on other FE it will be 1362

Well.. in 1988 in Denmark and Japan the FE3 came with forged crank, forged rods, oilcooled pistons and FE5A cams. The year after, 1989, it came with weaker materials, no forged crank, no forged rods, no oilcooled pistons and FE3N cams. That is why there might be a difference between these rods (I haven't seen the difference IRL).

How can you see if you have forged crank and/or forged rods?

Do you have pics of a forged crank and cast crank?
